Pro currently has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Underwriting Support Assistant to be part of our Insurance Services team. The job holder will assist the Underwriting Support Managers (USMs) and (re)insurance underwriters in delivering a high-quality client service.


The role formally reports to Pro Global but sits within a London based insurer within the Underwriting Operations function. On a day to day basis the work allocation and functional reporting line will be into the USMs & Underwriting


Pro operates a flexible hybrid working policy and this role would be based working at home and our Liverpool office.


Main Duties and Responsibilities


Key Responsibilities will be tailored to the team and class of business and will vary depending on whether the role is within Insurance or Reinsurance. They will include (but not limited to):


  • Oversight of USA roles including but not limited to; Submission clearance for new risks, Preparation of quote, certificate and policy documentation, Risk data capture in the London insures policy administration system, Support the production of any regulatory reporting
  • To work within the framework of the London insures Ethical and Service Standards.
  • Team Workflows - Monitor the various workflow tools (OWL, QUAIL, CROW etc) and ensure tasks are completed within appropriate timeframes.
  • Data Quality - Ensure onshore exceptions/errors identified through DQIM processes are rectified in a timely manner
  • Key UW Metrics - Monitor completion statistics for defined data elements i.e. Rate Change completion, identify where these are not being completed and ensure that data is accurately captured.
  • Electronic Platforms (Insurance only) - ensure activity completed in platforms is reflected in client systems
  • Financial Close - ensure bookings are up to date and oversee any data remediation exercises required as part of the close process.
  • Workload Management – Maintain oversight of department operations including risk submission, submission flow management, endorsements, renewal tracking, peer review and work with USMs to ensure resources are appropriately assigned.
  • Underwriting Metrics – Monitoring and sharing of Underwriting dashboards across the underwriting team.
  • Provide/coordinate additional administrative support including Ad hoc activities and projects as agreed with the USMs.
  • Provide direct line management for a small team, with responsibilities to include appraisals, 1:1’s and objective setting


Skills and Experience


  • Bachelors’ degree level preferred, although not required
  • Previous Team Leader/Supervisory experience is desirable
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant (re)insurance industry experience, specifically within Underwriting Community
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to use discretion in working to resolve process issues that ensure the success of our established global outsourcing models
  • Possess a continuous improvement mindset
  • Ability to work flexibly in order to complete duties of the role, particularly during peak underwriting periods
  • Proven ability to prioritise and organise effectively
  • Proven ability to work with speed and accuracy, particularly under pressure
  • Experience supporting work allocation and working to SLAs/tight deadlines
  • Proven experience of building and maintaining good working relationships
