Hollyoaks is fast approaching its 30th birthday, what a milestone! Over the past 30 years we have focused on hard-hitting, issue-led storytelling and big and bold block-buster plots.

The show isn’t afraid to tackle taboo subjects. Hollyoaks is daring, exciting and imaginative and we are currently on the hunt for individuals who share those exact qualities. Our Story and Script teams are expanding, and we have the following exciting opportunities available in Liverpool:

STORY

• STORY EDITOR – Reporting into the Story Producer, the Story Editor will help guide story discussions and take responsibility for editing the storyline documents.
• STORYLINER – Working in a team to contribute ideas and draft storylines for each month of episodes.

We are looking for candidates with a proven background in drama or journalism. You will need to have excellent writing skills, be bursting with new and original ideas and have the passion and confidence to voice these to the wider team. Embracing the vision of the Exec Producer is key, as well as adhering to the show’s production guidelines, so being able to adapt and find creative solutions quickly is a crucial part of the job. We want people who will inspire and encourage their fellow team members and champion their ideas and views. To be successful in our Story team, you will need to keep abreast of youth culture, maintain an awareness of current cultural issues and most importantly, LOVE telling stories!

SCRIPT

• SCRIPT EDITOR – Working in collaboration with writers to ensure that the script is in line with the Executive Producer’s vision, providing constructive feedback to writers and helping to navigate notes and queries that may arise during the editorial and production process.
• ASSISTANT SCRIPT EDITOR – Will support the Script Editors in delivering the best scripts, contributing to creative discussions, reviewing script timings and ensuring notes are discussed and incorporated into scripts.

To work in our dynamic Script team, you will need a proven background in drama, be it in Story or Scripts. You will be ready to contribute to editorial discussions with enthusiasm, tenacity and creativity. Hollyoaks is fast-paced and energetic, so we need our Script Editor’s communication skills to be second to none. We need someone who is proactive and possess a problem-solving approach to all interactions with Production, Directors, Cast and the wider team. You must have a keen eye for detail and the flexibility to adapt to changes. Our script team will attend meetings throughout the script process, contributing to strengthen story and character ideas.
