Clarke Energy is looking for an experienced Health, Safety and Environment Manager to help strengthen and guide our standards across the UK. This is a hands-on role where youll be working closely with teams across the business to maintain compliance, improve systems, and support a safe working environment.
About The Role
As HSE Manager, youll be responsible for upholding and developing Clarke Energys health, safety, environmental, and quality systems. The role involves more than compliance - it's about helping teams work safely, responsibly, and effectively day-to-day.
Youll contribute to a culture that values careful planning, open communication, and shared responsibility for high standards. The role will be based from our Headquarters in Knowsley with responsibility covering various project sites across the UK.

About The Role
As HSE Manager, youll be responsible for upholding and developing Clarke Energys health, safety, environmental, and quality systems. The role involves more than compliance - it's about helping teams work safely, responsibly, and effectively day-to-day.
Youll contribute to a culture that values careful planning, open communication, and shared responsibility for high standards. The role will be based from our Headquarters in Knowsley with responsibility covering various project sites across the UK.
Key Responsibilities
Systems & Standards
- Maintain and improve ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 9001 systems.
- Lead internal and external audits across UK sites.
- Represent the company during client, certification, and regulatory inspections.
- Ensure current legal compliance in all relevant areas of SHEQ.
- Manage incident reporting and follow-up investigations.
- Prepare clear and timely SHEQ reports for the leadership team.
- Develop and deliver toolbox talks, bulletins, and staff inductions.
- Coordinate with HR to provide training and support.
- Lead safety meetings and manage First Aid and Fire Marshall responsibilities.
- Keep records and risk assessments up to date (e.g., COSHH, lifting equipment).
- Oversee PPE requirements and specifications.
- Support client pre-qualification processes and supplier assessments.
Required
- At least 5 years experience in a similar SHEQ or HSE role.
- Chartered IOSH status.
- Degree and diploma in occupational health and safety.
- Familiar with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
- Confident in report writing and day-to-day use of IT systems.
- Full UK driving licence.
- CDM experience and Lead Auditor certification.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and quality assurance.
- Background in engineering or project delivery.
