Job Introduction
We’re looking for an experienced and forward-thinking Employee Relations Lead to join our People Team. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys supporting and developing others, thrives in a busy environment, and is confident handling complex employee relations matters.
As the Employee Relations Lead, you’ll be the go-to person for the ER team, offering expert guidance and helping them handle cases with confidence. You'll work across stores, logistics, and head office functions, ensuring we’re giving the right advice, at the right time, in the right way.
Job Overview
- Leading and supporting a team of Employee Relations Advisors, offering guidance on complex cases.
- Acting as a key point of contact for stores, logistics, and Head Office teams on employee relations matters.
- Managing and advising on a range of cases including absence management, disciplinary, grievance, Early Conciliation, and Employment Tribunals.
- Working closely with the Advisory Services Manager to support departmental goals and continuous improvement.
- Supporting the development and delivery of training, policies, and guidance materials.
- Identifying and implementing improvements to ER processes and ways of working.
- Partnering with internal stakeholders to ensure consistent and legally compliant advice across the business.
- Contributing to key projects and departmental reporting.
- Promoting a fair, inclusive, and legally compliant approach to people management.
- Maintaining full GDPR compliance and handling sensitive information with care and confidentiality.
Minimum Criteria To Apply
- CIPD qualification (or currently working towards it)
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR policies
- Experience managing or coaching others in an ER setting
- Confidence handling a wide range of employee relations issues
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A practical, empathetic approach to leadership
- Good IT skills, especially Microsoft Office
- The ability to manage a high-volume workload and meet deadlines
- A flexible and proactive mindset, with the confidence to challenge when needed
- Experience working with unions and colleague forums would be a bonus, as would involvement in projects or policy development.
