Renumeration: £190,000-£250,000 + bonus + equity

NT15972

A high-growth, private equity-backed infrastructure business is seeking a commercially focused Finance Director / CFO to partner closely with the CEO and help prepare the business for a successful exit within the next 18–24 months.

With approximately £60m revenue, £15m EBITDA and a workforce of around 200 employees, the business is entering a critical phase of professionalisation and strategic growth. This role offers the opportunity to make a genuine impact across finance, operations, reporting, and value creation.

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on leadership role suited to an ambitious finance professional who thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments. The successful candidate will play a central role in strengthening the finance function, improving reporting and analysis capabilities, and supporting the wider commercial strategy ahead of a planned transaction process.

The business is open to candidates from both infrastructure-related sectors (energy, utilities, telecoms, water, gas, etc.) and high-volume B2C environments where operational complexity and commercial partnering are key strengths.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with the CEO and senior leadership team as a strategic adviser and commercial sounding board
  • Professionalise and develop the finance function, including team structure, capability, and processes
  • Improve management reporting, financial visibility, KPI tracking, and data-driven analysis
  • Enhance forecasting, budgeting, and commercial insight across the business
  • Support operational decision-making through robust financial business partnering
  • Lead preparation for due diligence and future transaction activity
  • Help shape the equity story and investor materials ahead of exit
  • Build credibility with investors, lenders, and external advisers
  • Drive financial discipline while supporting growth and operational improvement initiatives

Candidate Profile

  • Experienced Finance Director / CFO with a strong track record in growing or evolving businesses
  • Comfortable operating in PE-backed, entrepreneurial, or change-oriented environments
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to influence at board level
  • Experience improving finance processes, systems, reporting, and controls
  • Exposure to transaction readiness, due diligence, or exit processes highly desirable
  • Open to backgrounds in infrastructure, utilities, telecoms, energy, water, gas, or operationally complex B2C businesses
  • Able to balance strategic thinking with a hands-on approach

Working Arrangement

  • Initially expected to be on-site 4 days per week during the first 3–6 months to support transformation and integration with the wider business
  • Longer-term flexibility can be tailored thereafter

Why Join?

This is a rare opportunity to join a business at a pivotal stage of its growth journey and play a key role in shaping its future ahead of a planned exit event. The role offers significant exposure to investors, strategic decision-making, and value creation initiatives within a dynamic and ambitious environment.

Opportunity for someone to step into a CFO role and get their first exit behind them.
