Financial Controller

Resourcery Group are delighted to be partnering with one of Liverpool's success stories as they look to hire a new Financial Controller for their UK business. The role will report directly to the FD and head up a finance team of 5 staff - leading, coaching and developing the team, whilst managing change and challenging and improving processes within a customer focused business environment.

Reporting to and working closely with the FD and rest of the Board, the Financial Controller will be responsible for creating a strong financial control environment by providing accurate and timely management reporting for the multiple entities within in the Group.

This role would be ideally suited to a technically orientated accountant, strong people manager with a proven track record in a senior finance role who thrives within a hands on, fast paced working environment..

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and continuously enhance the Group’s financial control framework, ensuring robust governance, compliance, and effective risk management.
  • Act as the technical accounting subject matter expert, advising on accounting standards, policy application, and complex accounting issues.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team fostering accountability, capability growth, and collaboration.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, coordinating audit activities and ensuring timely resolution of audit findings and recommendations.
  • Drive improvements across finance processes and reporting to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and overall control effectiveness


Key Requirements

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • Strong technical accounting expertise with a keen interest in financial controls, governance, and compliance.
  • Experience working within, or in close partnership with, a financial control environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to influence, coach, and develop others effectively.
  • Comfortable operating in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with regular exposure to senior stakeholders.
  • Ambitious, inquisitive, and motivated to progress into broader finance leadership responsibilities over time.
