Cover Supervisor – Secondary School (All Core Subjects)
Milk Education is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Merseyside to recruit a confident and adaptable Cover Supervisor to start as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, experienced cover supervisors, or individuals with experience working with young people who are looking to gain valuable classroom experience within secondary education.
As a Cover Supervisor, you will deliver pre-set lessons across a range of core subjects including English, Maths, Science, and Humanities, ensuring students remain engaged and on task in the absence of the classroom teacher.
This role is ideal for individuals considering a future career in teaching or education, as well as experienced school support staff seeking their next opportunity within a supportive school environment.
The Role as a Cover Supervisor:
As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes across KS3 and KS4, managing classroom behaviour and ensuring students complete the work set by teaching staff. You will help maintain a positive learning environment while supporting students’ academic progress and engagement across a variety of subjects.
Key Responsibilities as a Cover Supervisor:
- Deliver pre-planned lessons across a range of secondary subjects
- Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
- Ensure students remain focused, engaged, and on task during lessons
- Support learning and respond to student questions where appropriate
- Provide feedback to teaching staff regarding student progress and behaviour
- Build positive relationships with students and staff
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment
- Adapt confidently to different subjects and classroom settings
The Ideal Candidate as a Cover Supervisor:
- Previous experience working with secondary students is desirable
- A degree or relevant experience working with young people is advantageous
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
- Confident, adaptable, and resilient approach
- Ability to engage and motivate students across a range of subjects
- Passion for education and supporting young people
- Open to graduates, aspiring teachers, and experienced cover supervisors
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
