The Role

This is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing Ultracell's technical function, product development activities and future technology roadmap.

The successful candidate will provide direction across product development, compliance, quality, testing, technical support and innovation, ensuring our products remain competitive, reliable and aligned with market requirements.

Working closely with senior management, customers, supply chain and internal departments, you will play a critical role in defining the next generation of Ultracell products whilst supporting the continued growth of the business globally.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop Ultracell's technical strategy across lead-acid and lithium battery technologies
• Manage and develop the technical, compliance, quality and product development teams
• Act as the senior technical authority within the organisation
• Drive a culture of technical excellence, innovation and continuous improvement
• Technical Leadership

Product Development & Innovation

• Own and develop the product roadmap across all product categories
• Identify new technologies, market opportunities and emerging industry trends
• Lead new product development projects from concept through to commercial launch
• Evaluate new technologies and strategic product opportunities

Compliance, Testing & Validation

• Oversee product testing, validation and certification activities
• Ensure compliance with relevant international standards and regulations including IEC, UL, CE, UN38.3 and other applicable industry requirements
• Support the development of testing procedures and product performance evaluation
• Work closely with quality and compliance teams to maintain world-class standards

Technical Support & Customer Solutions

• Provide senior-level technical support to distributors, OEM customers and internal teams
• Support major customer projects and technical presentations
• Develop technical documentation, specifications, installation guides and training materials
• Assist commercial teams with technically complex opportunities and tenders

Strategic Contribution

• Support business growth through technical leadership and product innovation
• Assist with market expansion and new product introduction strategies
• Contribute to business planning and long-term product development objectives
• Represent Ultracell at customer meetings, exhibitions and industry events where required

About You

• Proven experience in a senior technical, engineering or product leadership role
• Strong understanding of battery technologies, energy storage systems or related industrial products
• Experience managing technical teams and cross-functional projects
• Strong knowledge of product development, testing, quality and compliance processes
• Comfortable balancing technical detail with commercial and strategic priorities
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Highly organised with strong project management capability

Desirable

• Experience within battery manufacturing, energy storage, power electronics or renewable energy sectors
• Understanding of lithium battery systems, BMS technologies and energy storage applications
• Knowledge of international compliance and certification requirements
• Degree qualified in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical or Energy Engineering (or related discipline)
