About Us
The Investigo Group (TIG) is a growing UK technology group delivering secure, customer-critical technology across software, platform, infrastructure, data, AI, secure communications and consultancy.
We work with customers who need reliable, secure and forward-thinking technology capability across complex and regulated environments. TIG includes Voixtel, IIS, Vestigo Consulting and Collaboraite, giving the Group broad capability across secure platforms, communications, consultancy, data and AI.
About You
You are a proven technology leader with the credibility, judgement and presence to operate confidently at Executive and Board level. You will have significant senior leadership experience, ideally at CTO, Group CTO, Technology Director, VP Engineering, Head of Technology or equivalent level.
You will have helped an SME, scale-up or growing technology-led organisation mature its technology, teams, governance, delivery and operating model without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
You bring breadth across software engineering, platform and infrastructure, security, architecture, AI/data, product technology and programme delivery. Your background may be software engineering, cloud, infrastructure, architecture, security or a blend of these areas. We are particularly interested in leaders who understand diverse technology estates, including on-premise environments, pre-cloud technology, cloud transformation and modern platform models.
You have operated in high-uptime, customer-critical environments where reliability, resilience, security and customer impact are central to decision-making. You are commercially aware, experienced in managing technology budgets, vendors, partners and cost optimisation, and able to connect technology investment to ROI, risk reduction, operational efficiency and business growth.
About the Role
We are looking for a Group-level Chief Technology Officer to define, lead and deliver the technology strategy across TIG.
This is a senior executive role with accountability for the direction, execution, performance and outcomes of the Group’s technology estate, spanning software engineering, AI and data-driven products, platform and infrastructure, security, architecture and programme delivery.
The CTO will stabilise, de-risk and mature a complex, customer-critical environment while shaping a modern, scalable operating model that supports future growth. This includes improving reliability, resilience, delivery predictability, governance, security and customer confidence.
Reporting directly to the CEO, you will work closely with the Board, Executive Team and CFO to translate business strategy into clear technology roadmaps, make sound investment decisions, manage budgets and ensure technology initiatives deliver measurable business value.
This role requires a leader who can balance strategic vision with pragmatic execution. You will bring clarity to priorities, strengthen governance and risk management, improve cross-functional delivery and build strong senior leadership capability across technology.
While this is a senior and influential role, you will not be expected to operate in isolation or start from scratch. TIG already has strong technical capability in place, including a technically strong Programme Director and our Development & AI Director, both sitting within the Technical Authority and ready to work with and support you. Our current CTO will remain within the Group in a more technically focused CTA role, providing continuity, technical context and structured knowledge transfer. You will have a strong team around you, giving you the support and insight needed to shape strategy, improve delivery and help the business scale with confidence.
Key Objectives
- Define and execute a Group technology strategy aligned to business priorities, customer needs, security requirements and growth.
- Stabilise, de-risk and mature the technology estate, improving uptime, resilience, reliability, security and operational confidence.
- Evolve the operating model, organisation design, governance and ways of working to support scale, consistency and accountability.
- Build and develop senior technology teams across software engineering, platform and infrastructure, security, architecture, AI/data and programme delivery.
- Improve collaboration, delivery predictability, quality, pace and customer impact across critical technology programmes.
- Embed secure-by-design principles, compliant delivery and regulated-environment thinking across platforms, products, services and engineering practices.
- Own technology investment decisions, budgets, cost optimisation, vendors and strategic partners, demonstrating ROI and commercial value.
- Translate technology strategy, risk, investment and delivery into clear CEO, CFO, Board and Executive-level business outcomes.
- Support the scaling of PaaS, SaaS, IaaS and customer-facing digital products, balancing growth, reliability, customer experience, security and sustainability.
What We’re Looking For
- Significant senior leadership experience at executive, Group, CTO, Technology Director, VP Engineering or equivalent level.
- Proven ownership of technology strategy, delivery, people, platforms, risk and outcomes.
- Experience evolving an SME, scale-up or growing technology-led organisation through scale, maturity, transformation or operating model change.
- Experience leading multiple technology functions across software engineering, platform and infrastructure, security, architecture, AI/data and programme delivery.
- Strong technical background in software engineering, cloud, infrastructure, architecture, security or a related discipline.
- Breadth across diverse systems, ideally including on-premise environments, pre-cloud estates, cloud platforms, modern infrastructure and customer-facing digital products.
- Experience in high-uptime, customer-critical technology environments focused on reliability, resilience, service quality and customer impact.
- Track record of leading high-impact technology or transformation programmes with measurable outcomes.
- Experience scaling PaaS, SaaS, IaaS, platforms or customer-facing digital products.
- Understanding of modern engineering practices including SDLC, DevOps, secure-by-design and compliant or regulated delivery.
- Practical knowledge of AI, data-driven technologies or intelligent automation.
- Experience managing technology budgets, cost optimisation, vendors and strategic partners.
- Experience working with CFO, Finance or commercial stakeholders to align technology investment to ROI, cost control and business value.
- Ability to operate confidently at Executive and Board level, translating technical strategy, risk, investment and delivery into clear business outcomes.
- Experience leading through subject matter experts while remaining accountable for direction, decisions and outcomes.
Soft Skills & Behaviours
You will be calm, decisive and measured under pressure, with the ability to communicate complex technical topics in clear business language. You will be pragmatic, commercially minded and comfortable balancing speed, risk, customer impact, security, cost and sustainability. You will build trust quickly, develop leadership capability, hold teams to account fairly and foster collaboration, continuous improvement, reliability, security awareness and delivery excellence.
Desirable Experience
- Prior experience operating as a CTO, Group CTO, Technology Director, VP Engineering or equivalent senior technology leader.
- Experience scaling PaaS, SaaS, IaaS, secure platforms or customer-facing digital products in high-growth environments.
- Experience taking an SME or scale-up from a similar size or maturity level to TIG into a more scalable, structured and resilient technology organisation.
- Exposure to AI, machine learning, data platforms, analytics or data-driven technologies in production or customer-facing settings.
- Experience in regulated, accredited, public sector, defence, secure communications or security-sensitive environments.
- Experience balancing legacy/on-premise estates with modern cloud, platform, data and security strategies.
