An IT firm are looking for a IT Engineer (Support) with current or very recent experience within the Educational sector (Primary Schools, Secondary Schools, Academies, Universities or Colleges) to work in a hybrid model across Liverpool and Merseyside.

Contracted onsite support — minimum 3 days per week

  • Deliver contracted onsite IT support across the school client base — minimum three days per week on client sites as part of contracted service commitments. Primary contracted base is Liverpool City Centre (L1) with regular travel across Liverpool and Merseyside
  • Remaining two days per week spent on remote support, reactive client visits, and project delivery.

Skills & Tech:

  • Minimum 4 years hands-on experience in a senior IT support or systems engineer role within education.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve server failures independently — OS, hardware, RAID, and virtualisation
  • Strong Active Directory and Group Policy experience — real-world deployment and troubleshooting, not just basic administration
  • Hands-on cyber security experience — incident response, endpoint protection, web filtering, and Cyber Essentials
  • Confident with Microsoft 365 administration across the full suite
  • Solid networking knowledge — VLANs, managed switches, wireless, firewalls, and routing
  • Experience with MDM platforms — Mosyle, Jamf, Intune, or equivalent
  • Able to work completely independently — you do not need supervision to resolve complex technical problems
  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle — client sites are spread across Liverpool and Merseyside
  • Strong communication skills — you can explain a complex technical issue to a headteacher clearly and calmly
