Reporting to Directors and working closely with Trustees, you will play a critical role in ensuring long term financial sustainability, driving robust governance, and supporting the delivery of services to the community.
This role goes beyond traditional finance: you will lead million pound portfolios, support income generation and fundraising strategy, and ensure strong financial stewardship across both charitable and commercial activities.
Description
Duties and tasks for the Senior Finance & Operations Manager:
- Lead the development of long term financial strategy, including 3-5 year financial planning and scenario modelling
- Provide financial advice to the Executive Team, Board of Trustees, and Committees delivering financial insights for decision making and growth
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and production monthly management accounts
- Manage cashflow, reserves, and investment performance
- Ensure compliance with charity SORP, statutory reporting, and regulatory requirements
- Lead on audits and maintain strong relationships with external auditors and regulators
- Act as a key advisor on financial governance and risk management
- Ensure compliance with charity law, Companies House, HMRC, and other regulatory bodies
- Work closely with fundraising and commercial teams to maximise income streams
- Provide financial modelling and analysis to support fundraising campaigns, grant applications, and income diversification
- Oversee financial performance across large and complex income generating portfolios, including trading activity and partnership initiatives
- Support the development of business cases for new services and investments
Profile
Experience required for the successful Senior Finance & Operations Manager:
- Part Qualified or qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Senior finance leadership experience within charity, healthcare, or not for profit sectors
- Demonstrable experience managing large budgets, complex portfolios and income streams
- Strong understanding of financial governance, compliance, and risk management in a regulated environment
- Experience supporting or leading fundraising finance or income generation strategies
- Proven ability to influence at Board level and communicate complex financial information clearly
- A track record of driving organisational improvement and change
