Salary: £35,000-£45,000 + Benefits
We're recruiting for an experienced Buyer to join a well-established manufacturing business in Liverpool. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing organisation where you'll play a key role in ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials, components, and services to support production.
Working closely with Production, Planning, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams, you'll be responsible for maintaining supplier relationships, negotiating commercial agreements, and ensuring materials are available to meet customer demand.
Key Responsibilities
Source and purchase raw materials, components, and services to support manufacturing operations.
Manage supplier relationships, ensuring quality, cost, and delivery performance meet business expectations.
Negotiate pricing, contracts, and lead times to achieve the best commercial outcomes.
Raise and manage purchase orders, ensuring accurate and timely delivery.
Monitor inventory levels and work closely with production planning to maintain material availability.
Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives while maintaining quality standards.
Resolve supplier issues relating to quality, shortages, and delivery delays.
Analyse supplier performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Maintain accurate purchasing data within the ERP/MRP system.
Stay informed on market trends, pricing, and supply chain risks.
About You
We're looking for a proactive and commercially aware Buyer with experience in a manufacturing environment and a strong understanding of supply chain operations.
Essential Requirements
Previous experience as a Buyer, Purchasing Officer, or Procurement Coordinator within manufacturing.
Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
Experience purchasing materials, components, or engineering products.
Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems.
Excellent Microsoft Excel skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable
Experience within engineering, automotive, aerospace, FMCG, or industrial manufacturing.
CIPS qualification (or working towards).
Knowledge of inventory management and production planning.
Experience with supplier performance management and continuous improvement initiatives.
