This is a succession-focused Financial Controller opportunity within a large FMCG business undergoing significant finance transformation and investment. The role requires a technically strong accountant with leadership potential who can strengthen controls, oversee complex accounting matters and develop into a future Group Financial Controller position.

Description

• Own and continuously enhance the Group's financial controls framework.
• Lead on technical accounting matters, providing expert guidance across the business.
• Act as Deputy to the Group Financial Controller, supporting the wider finance leadership team.
• Manage, coach and develop a small finance team of approximately four people.
• Build a high-performance culture with clear development and accountability standards.
• Lead relationships with external auditors and coordinate the annual audit process.
• Ensure audit findings are resolved effectively and within agreed timelines.
• Drive improvements to finance processes, controls and reporting quality.
• Support the ongoing transformation and development of the finance function.
• Partner with senior stakeholders across the business on financial governance and control matters.
• Safeguard the integrity and robustness of the Group's financial reporting environment.
• Contribute to the future direction and strategic development of the finance function.

Profile

The successful applicant will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with a strong technical accounting background and experience operating within a robust financial control environment.

They will ideally bring:

• Strong technical accounting expertise, including complex accounting issues and financial reporting.
• Experience developing, strengthening and maintaining financial controls and governance frameworks.
• Previous exposure to listed or large, consumer-facing businesses.
• The ability to challenge auditors and confidently engage with senior stakeholders.
• Experience leading, coaching and developing finance teams.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate commercial activity into accounting outcomes.
• A proactive mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced business undergoing significant transformation and growth.

Job Offer

• Salary up to £100,000, depending on experience
