Looking for a role that will accelerate your accounting career?We're recruiting for an ambitious Assistant Accountant to join a growing and purpose-driven organisation based in Liverpool. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone studying towards an accounting qualification, or looking to continue their professional development, while gaining exposure to a broad range of management accounting and commercial finance responsibilities.
You'll work closely with an experienced finance team, gaining hands-on involvement in management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, analysis and business partnering activities. What you'll be doingThis is a varied role that will give you exposure across multiple areas of finance, including:
- Producing weekly management accounts, KPIs and supporting analysis
- Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts
- Analysing financial performance and investigating variances against budgets and forecasts
- Completing bank reconciliations and cash reconciliations
- Preparing payroll analysis and associated journals
- Managing accruals and prepayments
- Producing balance sheet reconciliations and resolving discrepancies
- Supporting annual budgeting and forecasting processes
- Assisting with year-end audit requirements and liaising with auditors
- Conducting internal audit reviews to strengthen financial controls
- Preparing supporting information for taxation calculations and reporting
- Working with stakeholders across the business to provide meaningful financial insight
We're looking for someone who is motivated, eager to learn and keen to build a long-term career in finance.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience within an Assistant Accountant or similar role
- Experience supporting or producing management accounts
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial data
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships across the business
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- The ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines
