Skanska has been appointed to the North West and Central Framework and has been awarded a Liverpool Station project. The scheme involves the remodelling of the existing station, platforms, and associated rail disciplines and systems to deliver a modern, enhanced transport hub.

You will be working in the infrastructure OU in where our team brings design, build and refurbishment excellence to complex civil engineering projects nationwide - combining technical expertise with a passion for creating lasting value for people and places.

We are currently looking for a Project Manager who will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and driving project delivery to ensure works are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with the agreed programme.

As the Project Manager, you will:

  • Manage and co-ordinate the construction team, including subcontractors, to ensure that the work is delivered in accordance with the project performance, programme, and budget.
  • Lead the team to ensure they are supported and resources are adequately allocated to the works.
  • Implement operational efficiencies across the rail team to streamline project delivery.
  • Recruit, manage, supervise, train, and mentor the site team to enable them to optimise their work contribution.
  • Review contractual agreements and develop construction design input, working methods, programmes, and forecast costs with the construction team and Subcontractors/Suppliers.
  • Develop programmes and forecast budgets, assess actual programme and productivity achieved, and review them daily and weekly.
  • Identify Temporary Works requirements, review Design Briefs and temporary works designs, and ensure implementation on site aligns with the designs.
  • Act as the responsible party for the implementation of the Construction Phase Plan on the project and promote and lead site health and safety culture.
  • Building relationships with new Network Rail Customers is an essential requirement of the role, as well as Designers and other key supply chain partners.

We are looking for:

  • Extensive experience in the construction of Civil engineering projects within a rail environment.
  • Familiarity with Rail Systems and the co-ordination of disciplines, including the planning and integration of possessions.
  • Experience working in proximity to the third rail (DC) and managing Isolation permits.
  • Experience leading and managing construction teams by assigning clear accountability and authority.
  • Knowledge and understanding of construction contract law and forms of contract through experience and formal training.
  • A valid Personal Track Safety (PTS) qualification including DCCR/OLEC 1
  • A relevant CSCS Card.
  • Training in Health & Safety and Environmental management.
  • Experience of management systems such as Project Wise and Novade.
