General Building Operative - #2121517

We are recruiting for a General Building Operative (GBO) to join the facilities' maintenance team at HMP Liverpool. This is an ongoing temporary position offering stable work, structured hours, and the opportunity to secure a permanent role for the right candidate.Working within a secure custodial environment, you will be responsible for carrying out a variety of planned and reactive maintenance tasks across the prison estate, helping to ensure the site remains safe, secure and operational.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out general building maintenance and repair works.
• Undertake basic joinery, patch plastering, painting and decorating tasks.
• Complete minor brickwork, flooring and fabric maintenance repairs.
• Respond to reactive maintenance requests in a timely manner.
• Support planned preventative maintenance activities.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with health and safety procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of completed work.
• Work collaboratively with other trades and site teams.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience in a General Building Operative, Handyperson, Multi-Skilled Operative or Building Maintenance role.
• Practical experience across a range of building fabric repairs.
• Good understanding of health and safety requirements.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Full UK driving licence desirable but not essential.
