About the Hygiene Supervisor Role:
We are looking to recruit a Hygiene Supervisor to work at our Rice Mill in Kirkdale, Liverpool.
Reporting directly to the Site Quality Manager, this is a hands-on supervisory role with full responsibility for the entire Hygiene Department.
The successful candidate will lead and supervise a team of Hygiene Operatives, while also being actively involved in the day-to-day cleaning and hygiene operations. They will have overall responsibility for the effective running of the Hygiene Department, ensuring all required cleaning schedules, documentation, paperwork, safety checks and associated tasks are completed accurately and on time.
The role will require someone who is comfortable leading from the front - actively carrying out hygiene duties, whilst managing a team, monitoring standards, completing checks and ensuring the department consistently meets the required hygiene, safety and operational standards.
Day to day tasks will include;
- Allocate and oversee hygiene duties in line with Hygiene Plans, training and required standards and schedules.
- Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement across the Hygiene Department.
- Take a hands-on approach, actively participating in the daily cleaning and hygiene of the Mill and site.
- Lead the team in keeping hygiene standards, ensuring the site is audit-ready site for BRCGS, customer and site audits/visits.
- Train, develop and supervise Hygiene Operatives to ensure required standards and schedules are met.
- Ensure all hygiene documentation and associated records are completed accurately and on time.
- Maintain compliance with Food Safety, GMP and Hygiene policies and procedures.
- Manage and oversee the pesticide applications in line with schedules.
- Ensuring timely closure of non-conformities associated with Pest Control programmes.

We are looking for someone with the right attitude, leadership skills and ambition to take ownership of the Hygiene Department,
Previous supervisory experience is beneficial, but not essential - we are open to both experienced Hygiene Supervisors and ambitious individuals who are ready to take the next step in their career.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have previous experience as a Hygiene Supervisor or Team Leader - desirable but not essential.
- Be an experienced Hygiene Operative or Team Member who is keen to progress and take the next step into a supervisory position.
- Demonstrate strong people and communication skills, with the confidence to lead, motivate and manage a small team.
- Be comfortable delegating tasks, managing priorities and responding to issues as they arise.
- Be organised and able to effectively prioritise a demanding workload while ensuring all hygiene standards, KPIs and deadlines are achieved.
- Have a hands-on, proactive approach and be willing to lead by example, rather than simply manage from the sidelines.
- Be willing to undertake relevant training courses, including Food Safety and other role-specific training.
- Be confident completing required paperwork, records, safety checks and departmental documentation.
- Have good IT skills and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
- Share and demonstrate the company's values, with the right attitude towards teamwork, accountability, quality, safety and continuous improvement.
- Take pride in their work and understand the importance of maintaining high standards of hygiene, food safety and cleanliness at all times.
- Hold a FLT Licence (or training will be provided)
