We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for a Quantity Surveyor to join a major infrastructure project operating across the North West and North Wales.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious Quantity Surveyor looking to take the next step in their career and gain further experience working on a large-scale infrastructure project within the utilities and civil engineering sectors.
The successful candidate will ideally have a background in civil engineering, infrastructure or utilities, with strong commercial awareness and experience supporting the financial and contractual management of major projects.
The Opportunity
The role will be North West based, with regular travel required to project sites across North Wales. The successful candidate will need to be comfortable working across multiple locations and travelling to site as required by the project.
We are particularly interested in hearing from Quantity Surveyors already based across the North West, including Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Lancashire and Merseyside, who are able to realistically and consistently travel to sites across North Wales.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on a major infrastructure programme, gaining valuable experience across commercial management, subcontractor management, cost control and contract administration.
Key Responsibilities
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial management of the project, working closely with the wider project, commercial and operational teams.
Responsibilities are likely to include:
- Supporting the commercial management of major infrastructure projects
- Monitoring project costs, budgets and overall financial performance
- Preparing and maintaining accurate cost forecasts
- Assisting with valuations, applications for payment and final accounts
- Managing subcontractor and supplier accounts
- Reviewing and assessing variations, changes and compensation events
- Supporting the preparation and submission of commercial reports
- Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities
- Assisting with the administration and management of contractual obligations
- Reviewing subcontractor accounts and ensuring costs are accurately captured
- Supporting change control and cost management processes
- Working closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors and other stakeholders
- Ensuring commercial processes and procedures are followed throughout the project lifecycle
- Providing accurate and timely commercial information to support project decision-making
About You
We are looking for an Quantity Surveyor who is confident working within a project environment and is keen to continue developing their commercial career.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor at Intermediate level
- Knowledge and experience of NEC contracts
- A background in civil engineering, infrastructure or utilities
- Experience working on large-scale or complex projects
- Strong commercial and cost management experience
- A good understanding of project financial controls
- Experience with subcontract management and change control
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Excellent attention to detail and numerical ability
- The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider commercial team
- A willingness and ability to travel regularly to project sites across North Wales
