Reed Recruitment are delighted to be partnering with a successful and growing retail business to recruit a Buying & Merchandising Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity for an organised, analytical and commercially minded individual looking to develop a long-term career within Buying and Merchandising.

Working as part of a dynamic Head Office team, you will support the end-to-end product journey, helping to deliver exciting product ranges while ensuring stock availability, profitability and strong commercial performance.

The Role

As a Buying & Merchandising Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting buying activities, product launches, supplier relationships and stock management. You will work closely with Buying, Merchandising, Marketing, Finance, Quality and Logistics teams to help ensure products are delivered on time and perform successfully in the market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the management of critical paths for product launches, ensuring key milestones are achieved from concept through to delivery
  • Coordinate product samples for approvals, reviews and range presentations
  • Liaise with Quality and Technical teams to ensure products meet all required standards and compliance requirements
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
  • Manage supplier communications regarding purchase orders, pricing, deliveries and product specifications
  • Prepare and analyse sales, margin, stock and performance reports to support commercial decision-making
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity and product performance
  • Assist with stock allocation, replenishment and inventory management across multiple sales channels
  • Support promotional activity, markdowns and product lifecycle management

About You

  • Previous experience within a Buying, Merchandising, Supply Chain or Commercial support environment
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong communication skills with confidence engaging with suppliers and stakeholders
  • A proactive, detail-focused and solutions-driven approach
  • A genuine interest in retail, consumer products and market trends
