What the job is about


The Head of Mental Health Services & Registered Manager provides strategic, operational and clinical leadership across Reed Wellbeing's mental health services portfolio. Acting as the CQC Registered Manager, you will be accountable for service quality, regulatory compliance, clinical governance, safeguarding, operational performance and commissioner satisfaction.


This is a highly influential role where you will shape service delivery, embed a culture of quality and continuous improvement, and ensure participants receive safe, effective and evidence-based care. You will work closely with senior leaders, commissioners and regulatory bodies while leading multidisciplinary teams across a geographically dispersed service.

Your main responsibilities would be:


  • Acting as the named Registered Manager with the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
  • Ensuring compliance with CQC regulations, professional standards and clinical governance requirements.
  • Leading preparation for inspections, regulatory reviews and audits.
  • Providing senior leadership for clinical governance, quality assurance and risk management.
  • Overseeing safeguarding arrangements and supporting complex safeguarding decisions.
  • Leading operational delivery across mental health contracts and services.
  • Managing commissioner and stakeholder relationships, including NHS organisations, Integrated Care Boards and Local Authorities.
  • Monitoring service performance, quality indicators, participant outcomes and contractual targets.
  • Supporting business growth, contract retention, mobilisation and service development activity.
  • Leading, developing and inspiring multidisciplinary clinical and operational teams.
  • Driving innovation, continuous improvement and service transformation initiatives.
  • Providing oversight of business continuity, governance and organisational risk.

Required Skills & Experience


We are looking for a senior leader with significant experience in mental health, healthcare or psychological services who can demonstrate:

  • Significant operational leadership experience within mental health, counselling, psychotherapy, psychological wellbeing, healthcare, NHS or regulated health services.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary clinical and non-clinical teams.
  • Experience operating within a CQC-regulated environment.
  • Experience leading clinical governance, quality assurance, compliance or risk management functions.
  • Experience managing safeguarding arrangements and complex safeguarding concerns.
  • Experience building and maintaining senior stakeholder and commissioner relationships.
  • Experience using performance, quality and outcome data to drive service improvement.
  • Experience managing operational budgets, workforce planning and resource deployment.
  • Experience leading organisational change, transformation or service mobilisation activities.
  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent professional experience.


Professional Registration (Essential)

Applicants must hold current registration, accreditation or professional membership with at least one recognised professional body, such as:

  • British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP)
  • British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)
  • UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

  • Safeguarding Level 4 (or equivalent)
