Location: Force HQ, Liverpool
Contract Type: Temporary
Hourly Rate: £24.72 per hour
End Date: 30th August 2027
Working Pattern: Full Time, 36.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

About the Role:
Our client, a prominent organisation in the public sector, is seeking an experienced IS Project Manager to lead the successful implementation of Information Systems (IS) projects. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in transforming services through effective project management while ensuring adherence to specifications, timelines, and budgets.

Key Responsibilities:
As the IS Project Manager, you will:

  • Confirm business requirements and proposed solutions with system owners, ensuring project viability and efficiency before commencement.
  • Select appropriate IT systems, services, and suppliers to meet project requirements.
  • Identify necessary tasks and activities for project implementation, estimating required resources and budgets.
  • Produce and agree on detailed implementation plans with stakeholders, including system owners and ICT department sections.
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers for equipment and services.
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of IT staff and external suppliers to ensure timely and budget-compliant project delivery.
  • Maintain regular communication with potential users and owners to report progress and verify that evolving projects continue to meet their needs.
  • Report progress and highlight issues to the ICT Projects Manager, proactively managing risks and changes in project scope.
  • Plan and oversee testing and acceptance of new systems, ensuring compliance with agreed specifications.
  • Facilitate the smooth handover of completed projects to the ICT Services team.

What Our Client Is Looking For:
The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree or equivalent education level, with a completed training course in ICT project management.
  • Proven experience in implementing IT systems or similar projects within large and complex organisations.
  • Familiarity with various project management methodologies, applied successfully across multiple projects.
  • A broad knowledge of different IT systems to assess proposed solutions and understand their impacts.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with users and persuade them of project viability.
  • Strong management capabilities to motivate and coordinate project teams and external suppliers.
  • Attention to detail to monitor ongoing project status effectively.

Working Environment:
This role requires collaboration across various groups, departments, and external suppliers, demanding a diplomatic yet authoritative approach. The IS Project Manager will engage with middle and senior management to ensure resource allocation aligns with project needs.
