Safeguarding and Pastoral Welfare Officer
- Job Type: Permanent
Safeguarding and Pastoral Welfare Officer at a large secondary school. This role is crucial for maintaining the highest standards of safeguarding, student welfare, and behaviour management. You will work closely with senior leaders, external agencies, and the school community to ensure a safe and supportive environment for all students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL), managing all safeguarding concerns, referrals, and child protection procedures.
- Lead the pastoral and welfare support across the school, ensuring effective support for vulnerable students.
- Manage student behaviour and conduct processes, including restorative practices and behaviour support plans.
- Oversee attendance and engagement initiatives, implementing interventions to improve student outcomes.
- Collaborate with multi-agency partners to safeguard and support young people.
- Coordinate and monitor Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with data protection and statutory reporting requirements.
- Provide guidance to staff on safeguarding procedures, behaviour management, and pastoral interventions.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a similar role within an educational setting.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.
- Commitment to promoting student wellbeing, equality, and inclusion.
