Spencer Clarke Group are working in partnership with a specialist education setting in Liverpool who are looking to appoint a passionate and knowledgeable Catering Tutor on a full-time, permanent basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Catering, Hospitality or Food Studies professional who wants to use their industry knowledge to support and inspire young people within education.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across Catering & Hospitality, creating practical and engaging learning opportunities that help students develop their skills, confidence and independence.
The setting supports students with a range of individual learning needs, so we are looking for someone who can deliver inclusive and differentiated learning, adapting their approach to help every student work towards their personal and academic goals.
Already have teaching experience? Great. However, candidates with strong Catering & Hospitality industry experience and relevant subject knowledge are also encouraged to apply, as there may be an opportunity to complete a recognised teaching qualification alongside employment.
The Role:
Deliver high-quality and inclusive Catering & Hospitality teaching and learning.
Plan and deliver engaging practical and theory-based sessions.
Develop effective lesson plans, resources and course materials.
Adapt teaching to meet individual student needs and support plans.
Assess student work and provide accurate, constructive and timely feedback.
Monitor and record student attendance, retention, progress and achievement.
Support students towards their individual academic and personal goals.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments within the Catering & Hospitality sector.
Promote positive behaviour, safeguarding and student wellbeing.
Support the development of Functional Skills, Employability Skills and Careers Education.
Work collaboratively with tutors, support staff and curriculum leaders.
Attend relevant training, team meetings, parent/carer evenings and wider education events.
Contribute to a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
What We're Looking For:
Strong professional knowledge and experience within Catering, Hospitality, Food Preparation or a related vocational area.
Relevant subject-specific qualifications.
A recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE or Certificate in Education is advantageous.
Candidates with significant industry expertise who are willing to work towards a teaching qualification are also encouraged to apply.
Level 2 English and Maths.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
Good digital and written skills.
Ability to assess student progress and identify individual learning needs.
Ability to work independently and as part of a wider education team.
Strong understanding of safeguarding and Keeping Children Safe in Education.
Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusive education.
Desirable Experience:
Previous teaching or assessing experience within a college or vocational education environment.
Experience supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Knowledge of awarding body procedures and vocational qualifications.
Assessor or Internal Quality Assurance/Internal Verification qualifications.
Understanding of standards and expectations within the Further Education sector.
