Quantity Surveyor - #2150334

A well-established and growing civil engineering and groundworks contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to play a key role in the commercial and pre-construction function of the business

The company delivers a wide range of Infrastructure and Civil Engineering projects, including roads, sewers, groundworks, highways, drainage and residential infrastructure works, working with developers, local authorities and main contractors across the Northwest. The business also operates across groundworks, civil engineering and highways sectors

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced QS who enjoys both the commercial management of live projects and the challenge of pricing and winning new work

The Role

Reporting directly to the Commercial Director, you will take responsibility for the commercial delivery of multiple schemes whilst also supporting tender submissions and estimating activities
Key responsibilities include:

• Full commercial management of civil engineering and groundworks projects from contract award through to final account
• Preparing, reviewing and submitting valuations, variations and final accounts
• Cost reporting, forecasting and cashflow management
• Subcontract procurement, negotiation and account management
• Pricing and tendering for new opportunities, including preparing estimates and reviewing subcontractor quotations
• Identifying commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle
• Administering contracts under both JCT and NEC forms of contract
• Liaising with operational teams, clients and supply chain partners to ensure successful project delivery
• Supporting and mentoring a Junior Quantity Surveyor, helping develop their commercial and contractual knowledge
• Contributing to the continued growth of the business through commercial and pre-construction expertise

About You

We are keen to speak with Quantity Surveyors who have:

• Proven experience within civil engineering, infrastructure, groundworks or roads & sewers projects
• Strong knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts
• Experience managing projects commercially from inception through to final account
• Tendering and estimating experience, with the ability to price work confidently and accurately
• Strong negotiation, communication and relationship-building skills
• The ability to mentor and develop junior team members
• A proactive, hands-on approach and the desire to play a significant role within a growing business
