MRD Recruitment is currently supporting an established industrial business in Liverpool with the appointment of an experienced Mechanical Shift Technician.

Working as part of a skilled Engineering team on a 3-on/3-off shift pattern, you will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, mechanical fault-finding, repairs and modifications across a range of heavy industrial plant and equipment.

This is a hands-on engineering role where you'll play an important part in maintaining equipment reliability, minimising downtime and supporting safe and efficient operations.

• Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across heavy industrial plant and equipment.
• Diagnose and rectify mechanical faults using appropriate fault-finding techniques and diagnostic equipment.
• Respond to breakdowns and work closely with Operations to minimise equipment downtime.
• Carry out repairs, modifications and improvements to plant and equipment.
• Work across mechanical systems including conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics and rotating equipment.
• Support engineering projects, improvement activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Complete maintenance records and engineering documentation accurately.
• Work in accordance with company Health & Safety procedures and safe working practices.
• Follow Permit to Work and incident reporting procedures.
• Support the wider Engineering team as required.

We're looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer / Mechanical Technician with a strong background in an industrial or heavy engineering environment.

You will ideally have:

• ONC/HNC or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
• Strong practical experience working with heavy plant and industrial equipment.
• Experience with conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics and rotating equipment.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Experience using diagnostic equipment.
• Working knowledge of Permit to Work systems and incident reporting.
• Experience using CMMS systems, ideally SAP.
• Knowledge of maintenance strategies including RCM, PM, CBM or TPM would be advantageous.
• A full UK driving licence.

Experience within heavy industry, bulk handling, quarrying, manufacturing or a similar environment would be particularly relevant.
