An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Buyer to join a growing procurement and supply chain function within a large multi-site organisation operating within the construction and built environment sector across the North West.

This is an excellent opportunity for a procurement professional with construction industry experience who is looking to take ownership of sourcing activities, supplier relationships and tendering projects, while contributing to wider commercial and operational improvement initiatives.

You'll work closely with operational teams, project stakeholders, suppliers and contractors to ensure procurement activities support project delivery, provide value for money and maintain the highest standards of compliance and governance.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver end-to-end procurement activities across a range of construction-related goods, materials, subcontractor services and operational spend categories.
• Lead and support sourcing exercises, including RFQs, tenders, supplier reviews and market engagement activities.
• Build strong relationships with project teams and operational stakeholders to understand procurement requirements and delivery timescales.
• Evaluate supplier and subcontractor proposals, making recommendations based on cost, quality, risk and programme requirements.
• Develop and manage supplier relationships to drive commercial value, service improvements and performance standards.
• Support contract management activities, supplier reviews and ongoing performance monitoring.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings, procurement efficiencies and supply chain improvements.
• Produce procurement reports, savings trackers and management information to support decision-making.
• Conduct market research and benchmarking exercises to identify alternative suppliers and best-value solutions.
• Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, industry regulations and best practice.
• Support supplier onboarding, due diligence and compliance processes.
• Contribute to procurement improvement initiatives and supply chain development projects.

About You

We're keen to speak with candidates who have:

• Previous procurement or purchasing experience within the construction, building materials, engineering, civil engineering or related built environment sectors.
• Strong knowledge of construction supply chains, supplier management and procurement processes.
• Experience purchasing construction materials, subcontractor services, plant, equipment or related products.
• Experience managing sourcing exercises, RFQs, tenders and supplier negotiations.
• Strong commercial awareness with the ability to deliver value and cost-saving opportunities.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience producing procurement reports and analysing spend data.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Experience using procurement, purchasing or ERP systems.
• The ability to manage multiple priorities whilst maintaining excellent attention to detail.

Essential Requirements

• Proven experience working within the construction industry or a closely related sector.
• Understanding of construction procurement processes, supplier networks and project delivery requirements.
• Experience working with contractors, subcontractors, suppliers or construction-related stakeholders.

Desirable

• CIPS qualification or working towards professional procurement accreditation.
• Experience within social housing, property maintenance, facilities management, infrastructure or civil engineering environments.
• Knowledge of contract management and supplier performance monitoring.
