Are you an experienced Head of Recruitment looking to take on your next challenge? We are seeking a Head of Recruitment will lead and develop the organisation's recruitment strategy across the tanker logistics business, ensuring the company has the right people, with the right skills, in the right locations, at the right time.
About the Role:
The role will have a particular focus on the recruitment, attraction and retention of HGV tanker drivers, alongside operational, workshop, planning, fleet, management and support roles.
Working closely with Operations, Fleet, HR and Finance, the Head of Recruitment will develop a proactive and commercially focused recruitment function that supports business growth, protects service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Workforce Planning
- Develop and implement the company's overall recruitment and talent acquisition strategy.
- Translate business growth plans and operational requirements into effective recruitment plans.
- Develop recruitment plans around driver headcount, turnover, customer contracts, fleet growth and new business.
- Establish robust workforce forecasting and recruitment demand planning.
- Identify recruitment risks and develop mitigation plans for critical or hard-to-fill positions.
- Develop strategies to reduce vacancy levels, time-to-hire and recruitment costs.
- The Head of Recruitment will work closely with HR and Operations to ensure recruitment solutions are supported by effective retention strategies
- Work with Operations to address factors contributing to turnover
Driver Recruitment
- Develop innovative approaches to attract experienced tanker drivers within a highly competitive market.
- Establish recruitment pipelines.
- Working alongside the Driver Training Team to support and develop external relationships.
- Develop targeted recruitment campaigns around geographical hotspots and depot requirements.
Recruitment Process & Candidate Experience
- Ensure recruitment processes are efficient, consistent and candidate-focused.
- Develop appropriate recruitment standards and service level agreements.
- Improve speed and quality of candidate screening and selection.
- Review effective pre-employment screening processes.
- Ensure recruitment processes comply with UK employment legislation and company policies.
- Develop an effective onboarding journey from offer through to commencement with the Learning and Development Manager.
Recruitment Agency & Supplier Management
- Develop and manage the company's recruitment agency strategy.
- Review the effectiveness and commercial value of recruitment suppliers.
- Identify opportunities to replace agency recruitment with direct sourcing
- Develop and maintain a recruitment dashboard covering key measures in line with business requirements.
What We’re Looking For:
- Significant experience leading recruitment/talent acquisition within a large operational environment, preferably within the logistics industry but will consider other similar industry experience.
- Strong understanding of the UK transport, logistics or HGV recruitment market.
- Experience developing recruitment strategies.
- Excellent Written and Verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong time management & organisation skills.
- Ability to work independently and with a team to meet strict deadlines.
- Lead, coach and developing team members.
- Professional and confidential attitude in the workplace.
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset with a hands-on approach.
- Willingness to travel nationally as part of the role.
- Full UK driving licence.
