Temporary Legal Cashier / Ledger Reconciliation Assistant

Remote | Temporary Assignment | £13.00 - £18.00 per Hour DOE

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Legal Cashier to support a law firm on a temporary basis with a dedicated ledger reconciliation project.

This role will focus on reviewing client matter ledgers, investigating historic transactions, resolving outstanding balances and working through a backlog of reconciliation work. The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently, managing a high volume of matters and maintaining accurate records throughout the process.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and reconcile client matter ledgers
• Investigate outstanding client and office account balances
• Identify and resolve ledger discrepancies
• Trace historic transactions and supporting documentation
• Review residual balances and recommend appropriate actions
• Maintain clear records and audit trails
• Escalate issues requiring further review
• Work through a backlog of reconciliation work in a structured and efficient manner
• Provide regular updates on progress

Person Specification

To be considered, you will have:

• Previous legal cashiering experience within a law firm
• Strong understanding of client and office accounts
• Experience reconciling matter ledgers and resolving discrepancies
• Knowledge of the SRA Accounts Rules
• Strong Excel and financial systems skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and manage your workload effectively

This role would suit an experienced Legal Cashier, Legal Finance Assistant, Legal Accounts Assistant or Reconciliation Specialist with previous law firm finance experience.
