At DCC Energy GB, we're committed to leading the energy transition, helping customers, businesses and communities access more sustainable energy solutions. Through our specialist businesses, we support households and organisations on their journey towards greater energy efficiency, reduced carbon emissions and lower energy costs.

Next Energy, part of DCC Energy GB, is at the forefront of delivering government-backed energy efficiency and renewable energy programmes. Working in partnership with Local Authorities, Housing Associations and strategic partners across the UK, we help households access funding for insulation, heating upgrades, solar PV, battery storage and wider retrofit improvements.

Help Shape the Future of Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Communities

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Public Sector Marketing & Engagement Manager to join Next Energy and play a key role in supporting the continued growth of our grant-funded and public sector programmes.

This is not a traditional B2B marketing role.

We're looking for someone who can confidently operate within complex stakeholder environments, engaging with Local Authorities, Housing Associations, framework partners and funding bodies. You'll be responsible for developing strategic marketing and engagement activity that supports programme growth, strengthens partnerships and helps deliver meaningful outcomes for communities across the UK.

If you're a commercially minded marketing professional with strong public sector experience, stakeholder gravitas and the resilience to thrive in a fast-moving and evolving environment, we'd love to hear from you.

About DCC Energy GB & Next Energy

DCC Energy GB is one of the UK's leading energy services businesses, delivering energy solutions to homes, businesses and public sector organisations nationwide.

As part of DCC Energy GB, Next Energy specialises in delivering funded retrofit and renewable energy programmes that support the UK's Net Zero ambitions. Through collaboration with Local Authorities, Housing Associations and communities, we help improve energy efficiency, tackle fuel poverty and create warmer, healthier homes.

By combining the scale and capability of DCC Energy with the expertise of Next Energy, we're creating innovative solutions that make a genuine difference for both customers and communities.

The Role

Reporting into the leadership team, you'll lead the marketing and engagement strategy for Next Energy's grant-funded and public sector activity.

Working closely with commercial, operational, bid, programme delivery and stakeholder teams, you'll develop campaigns and engagement initiatives that support business growth, strengthen strategic partnerships and position Next Energy as a trusted delivery partner across the public sector landscape.

This role requires an individual who can balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery and who is equally comfortable engaging with senior Local Authority stakeholders as they are managing campaign execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver strategic marketing and stakeholder engagement plans supporting funded energy efficiency and retrofit programmes.
  • Build strong working relationships with Local Authorities, Housing Associations, strategic partners and other public sector stakeholders.
  • Support business growth through marketing input into bids, tenders, frameworks and contract mobilisation activities.
  • Create compelling communications and promotional materials tailored to residents, partners, community groups and public sector audiences.
  • Strengthen Next Energy's profile through PR, case studies, thought leadership, partnership campaigns and industry engagement.
  • Work closely with operational and commercial teams to support programme participation, customer acquisition and contract growth.
  • Analyse campaign performance and stakeholder engagement activity, using insights and data to improve future outcomes.
  • Manage agencies, suppliers and external partners to ensure effective and compliant delivery of marketing activity.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, providing challenge, insight and strategic marketing support.

What We're Looking For

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience in a senior marketing, engagement or communications role.
  • Experience working within Local Government, Housing, Energy, Utilities, Sustainability, Public Sector or other highly regulated environments.
  • Strong understanding of stakeholder engagement and partnership working within complex organisations.
  • Experience supporting or contributing to bids, tenders, framework agreements or public sector procurement activity.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering strategic marketing campaigns that drive measurable outcomes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, from community groups through to senior leaders.
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to align marketing activity to growth objectives.
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working directly with Local Authorities or Housing Associations.
  • Knowledge of grant-funded schemes, retrofit programmes, decarbonisation initiatives or energy efficiency projects.
  • Understanding of government-backed funding mechanisms and public sector delivery models.
  • Experience using CRM and marketing automation platforms.
  • Knowledge of domestic retrofit, renewable energy technologies or wider sustainability programmes.

Personal Attributes

We're particularly interested in individuals who can demonstrate:

  • Gravitas and credibility when engaging with senior stakeholders.
  • Resilience and determination in challenging environments.
  • A strategic and commercially minded approach.
  • Strong relationship-building and influencing skills.
  • The confidence to challenge constructively and drive positive outcomes.
  • Commitment and longevity in previous roles, demonstrating an ability to develop long-term partnerships and deliver sustainable results.

Why Join Us?

  • Play a key role in supporting the UK's transition to a low-carbon future.
  • Help communities access funding for warmer, more energy-efficient homes.
  • Work for a growing business backed by the strength and stability of DCC Energy GB.
  • Collaborate with experienced professionals across commercial, operations, programme delivery and marketing functions.
  • Make a tangible social, environmental and community impact through your work.
  • Be part of an ambitious business with exciting growth plans across the energy efficiency and retrofit sector.

Diversity & Inclusion

At DCC Energy GB and Next Energy, we're committed to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone feels respected, valued and empowered to succeed.

We welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds and experiences and believe that diversity of thought, experience and perspective strengthens our business, our teams and the service we provide to customers and communities across the UK.
