Transformation Lead – Finance

Location: Liverpool, UK – Hybrid (3 days onsite per week)

Contract: 12 months

Rate: £350–£425 per day (Umbrella)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Transformation Lead to drive finance transformation initiatives within a global Accounting Services function. This role will focus on improving accounting processes, strengthening financial controls, simplifying ways of working and implementing scalable, standardized processes across international teams.

You will lead a team of 8 Assistant Accountants and work closely with Finance, Technology, Shared Services and senior stakeholders to deliver meaningful operational improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead finance transformation projects from planning through to implementation.
• Develop transformation roadmaps, project plans, milestones and delivery strategies.
• Drive process improvement, standardization and automation across accounting operations.
• Improve month-end close processes, efficiency, accuracy and financial controls.
• Collaborate with Financial Controllers, Finance Business Partners, Technology and Shared Services teams.
• Manage project governance, risks, dependencies, reporting and stakeholder communications.
• Support finance system enhancements, including SAP, and improve data quality.
• Lead change management activities to ensure successful adoption of new processes.
• Track project benefits, performance metrics and continuous improvement outcomes.
• Manage, coach and develop a team of 8 Assistant Accountants.
• Coordinate internal and external audit requests.

Essential Skills & Experience

• 7+ years of relevant experience within finance, transformation, change delivery or shared services.
• 3–5 years of experience leading teams, projects or cross-functional workstreams.
• Proven experience delivering finance transformation, process improvement, automation or operating model changes.
• Experience with SAP or other finance systems and an understanding of accounting processes and financial controls.

Desirable

• Experience within a multinational organization or global finance shared services environment.
• Pharmaceutical or scientific industry experience.
• Degree in Finance, Accounting or a related discipline.
• ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent professional qualification.
