Based in Liverpool (Hybrid)
£75,000 per annum
12-month fixed-term contract
The Opportunity
We're looking for an experienced Finance Manager to lead a key finance transformation programme, improving the way month-end close and accounting processes are delivered across a global finance function.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll manage a team of Assistant Accountants, driving improvements across systems, processes and controls. Working closely with senior finance stakeholders and technology teams, you'll help create more efficient, consistent and scalable ways of working, with a strong focus on SAP.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who combines strong financial accounting knowledge with proven experience in transformation, process improvement and change delivery. You'll play an important role in turning strategic objectives into practical changes that deliver measurable results and become embedded within the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of finance transformation initiatives focused on improving SAP month-end close and accounting processes.
- Manage, develop and support a team of Assistant Accountants, providing clear direction, coaching and effective workload planning.
- Identify opportunities to simplify, standardise and automate existing processes, improving efficiency without compromising financial controls.
- Develop and manage project plans, timelines and milestones, ensuring priorities, risks and dependencies are clearly understood.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders across international teams, ensuring changes are understood, supported and delivered effectively.
- Establish clear governance and reporting processes, keeping stakeholders informed of progress, challenges, risks and outcomes.
- Monitor the benefits of transformation activity, using performance measures and data to demonstrate improvements in efficiency, accuracy and control.
- Support SAP enhancements, digital initiatives and data quality improvements that strengthen the month-end close process.
About You
You'll be a confident finance professional with a strong track record of leading teams and delivering change in a complex finance environment. You'll be comfortable working across functions and geographies, balancing day-to-day priorities with longer-term improvement objectives.
You'll ideally bring:
- Experience leading a team, project or cross-functional programme of work.
- A proven track record of delivering finance transformation, process improvement, automation or operating model changes.
- Strong working knowledge of SAP and an understanding of how finance systems, data and controls interact.
- The ability to manage complex projects, competing priorities and tight deadlines while maintaining quality and control.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data and process insight to identify opportunities and recommend solutions.
- A structured approach to planning, governance, risk management and tracking delivery against agreed objectives.
What Will Make You Successful?
You'll be someone who can bring structure to complex challenges, make sound decisions and keep transformation activity moving forward. You'll be equally comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders, working through process-level detail and supporting your team through change.
Above all, you'll understand that successful transformation is about more than introducing new processes or systems. It's about bringing people with you, improving performance and ensuring that changes deliver lasting benefits.
