Help shape the future of housing

Are you an experienced finance professional looking to use your skills to make a lasting difference to people’s lives and communities?

On behalf of my client, a housing association based in South Liverpool, we are seeking a new Board Member to join their high-performing Board and become a member of their Audit & Risk Committee.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future direction of a housing association committed to providing great homes, strong communities and bright futures.

My client manages over 3,800 homes across South Liverpool and is investing significantly in existing homes, neighbourhoods and new housing developments to meet the needs of current and future customers.

This is a particularly exciting time to join the organisation. They are in the final stages of developing a new corporate plan, which will set their strategic direction from 2027 onwards. As a Board Member, you will have the opportunity to help shape their future ambitions, ensuring they continue to deliver excellent services, invest in communities and remain a strong, resilient organisation for years to come.

Who are we looking for?

To complement the Board’s existing skills, we are particularly interested in candidates with senior-level finance and treasury experience, ideally gained within the housing sector, including expertise in audit, assurance, risk management and governance within a regulated environment.

A recognised professional finance qualification and strategic leadership experience are essential.

We are looking for someone who brings sound judgement, strategic insight and the confidence to provide both support and constructive challenge. Most importantly, you will share my client’s commitment to customers, communities and their values.

As a member of both the Board and Audit & Risk Committee, you will contribute to strategic decision-making, oversee organisational performance and risk, and help ensure the organisation continues to meet the highest standards of governance and accountability.

This is much more than a governance role. It is an opportunity to use your expertise to influence the future of an organisation that is passionate about tackling inequalities, strengthening communities and improving life chances for the people it serves.

My client welcomes applications from people of all backgrounds and is committed to building a diverse and inclusive Board that reflects the communities it serves.

How to apply

Please review the recruitment pack and complete the online application process.

To apply, you must:

  • Upload an up-to-date CV.
  • Outline your suitability for the role in the supporting statement section of the online application form.

Applications submitted without both of the above will not be considered.

Your supporting statement should be a minimum of 200 words and explain how your skills, experience and knowledge meet the requirements set out in the person specification.

Use of AI

You may use AI tools to help structure, format or refine your application. However, your application should reflect your own experience, skills and achievements.

Applications should not be wholly generated by AI, as my client wants to understand your personal motivation, experience and suitability for the role.

Encouraging diversity

My client is committed to building a diverse, inclusive and representative Board that reflects the communities it serves.

Applications are welcomed from people of all backgrounds, experiences and identities. My client believes that bringing together a broad range of perspectives leads to better decision-making, stronger governance and improved outcomes for customers.

They recognise that some groups are currently underrepresented within their Board membership. In particular, applications are welcomed from people who identify as LGBTQ+, whose perspectives and lived experiences are not currently represented on the Board.

Appointments will always be made on merit. My client is committed to providing an inclusive and accessible recruitment process, and applicants are encouraged to discuss any adjustments they may need during the application or selection process.

Guaranteed Interview Schemes

My client recognises that some people may face additional barriers when applying for opportunities.

As part of their commitment to inclusion, they offer guaranteed interviews to disabled applicants and applicants from ethnic minority backgrounds who choose to apply under the relevant scheme and who meet all of the essential criteria outlined in the person specification.

If you wish to apply under one of these schemes, please select “Yes” to the relevant question within the online application form.
