Data Insights Manager

Location: Liverpool city centre
Hybrid working: Wednesdays in the office, plus one additional team day each month
Salary: Expected to be up to £65,000

Lead a specialist team and help shape how the business uses data

Innova Recruitment is working with an organisation that helps people back into work to recruit a Data Insights Manager.

With the current manager moving on, you’ll take over an established team and have the opportunity to influence its direction, develop the people around you and work directly with senior leaders to put the team’s findings into practice.

The team’s analysis has already helped improve how people are supported into employment and how resources are planned across the business. You’ll build on that work, helping identify the questions worth exploring and turning the answers into decisions that improve services.

What could this role offer you?

You’ll have a voice in the wider BI strategy, room to bring your own ideas and direct access to the operational leaders who can act on your recommendations.

There’s support for exploring different approaches and testing ideas, alongside a clear focus on making the work useful to the people delivering services. You’ll help the team balance that exploration with sharing findings and recommendations the business can use.

You’ll also have scope to help shape practical AI and automation initiatives, working with specialist colleagues to identify where these could reduce operational workload or improve how the business works.

Developing people is an important part of the role. The hiring manager encourages ownership and supports relevant training and qualifications, giving you room to develop your own leadership approach while helping others progress.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll lead a team spanning data science, machine learning, insights and data governance, with plans to bring labour market analysis into the remit.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Building relationships with programme and divisional directors to understand operational challenges and agree analytical priorities.

  • Turning business questions into clear briefs, helping the team focus its time on work with a practical purpose.

  • Managing and developing specialists, providing direction, feedback and support.

  • Balancing competing requests by considering their likely impact, effort, timescales and uncertainty.

  • Helping the team communicate complex findings clearly and turn them into recommendations that operational colleagues can act on.

  • Explaining the value of the team’s work and helping the business understand its impact.

  • Contributing to the wider BI strategy, the developing governance remit and opportunities for AI and automation.

What you’ll bring

You’re likely to come from an analytics, insights, business intelligence or data science background, with experience connecting analytical work to business decisions.

We’re open to an existing manager, or a senior analyst or team lead who has already led people or analytical work and is ready to take on full people management.

We’d like to hear about your experience of:

  • Leading people or analytical projects, setting priorities and helping others deliver.

  • Working with senior stakeholders to understand their needs and constructively challenge assumptions.

  • Turning complex information into clear, practical recommendations.

  • Assessing analytical approaches, asking useful questions and understanding the limitations of the findings.

  • Building relationships across technical and operational teams.

The wider environment includes Power BI, Snowflake and Databricks. Familiarity with these tools would be useful, alongside the analytical understanding to guide specialists, evaluate their work and explain its value.

Experience in data governance, labour market analysis or services that support people into employment would also be useful.

Interested in hearing more?

If you’d like to lead a specialist team, have more influence over its direction and see how its work changes the services people receive, we’d be pleased to hear from you.
