Complex Risk is a specialist legal risk and compliance consultancy providing independent compliance, governance and risk management solutions to law firms, litigation funders and insurers.

We bridge the gap between regulatory requirements, documented policies and real-world practice, helping organisations identify weaknesses, strengthen oversight and manage risk effectively.

As our client base continues to grow, we are looking to expand our network of experienced legal compliance professionals who can support us on an ad hoc consultancy basis.

Description

We are interested in connecting with experienced legal compliance consultants who have a strong understanding of the regulatory requirements facing law firms and can provide practical, commercially focused support.

Assignments will vary depending on client requirements and may include:

• Conducting independent compliance audits and gap analyses.
• Reviewing law firm policies, procedures and compliance frameworks.
• Assessing compliance with the SRA Standards and Regulations.
• Undertaking compliance file reviews and risk assessments.
• Advising on AML, financial sanctions and regulatory obligations.
• Preparing compliance reports and recommendations.
• Supporting law firms with regulatory remediation and governance improvements.

Who We're Looking For

We would particularly welcome expressions of interest from individuals with:

• Strong practical knowledge of the SRA Standards and Regulations.
• Experience working in legal compliance within an SRA-regulated law firm or specialist consultancy.
• Previous experience as a COLP, Deputy COLP, Compliance Manager or Legal Compliance Consultant.
• Experience conducting audits, compliance monitoring or regulatory reviews.
• Excellent analytical and report-writing skills.
• The ability to work independently and deliver high-quality work to agreed deadlines.

A legal qualification would be advantageous but is not essential.

Please note that this is not a permanent employed position. We are looking to establish relationships with independent consultants to support client projects as opportunities arise.
