Observability Engineer - #2182433
confidential
Are you an experienced Monitoring, Observability or Site Reliability Engineer looking for an opportunity to make a genuine impact within a large, complex technology environment?
We are recruiting an Observability Engineer to join a major organisation based in Liverpool. This is a hands-on role focused on improving visibility across infrastructure, networks, cloud platforms and applications, helping technology teams detect issues earlier, troubleshoot faster and deliver more reliable services.
You'll work closely with teams to improve monitoring and observability, build meaningful dashboards and alerts, and turn operational data into actionable insight. The underlying requirement covers metrics, logs and traces across complex enterprise services.
What you'll be doing
- Developing and improving monitoring and observability across infrastructure, cloud, network and application environments
- Defining, building and deploying the strategy for Observability
- Creating dashboards that provide meaningful insight into service health, performance and capacity
- Improving alerting to ensure alerts are actionable and reducing unnecessary noise and alert fatigue
- Working with metrics, logs and telemetry to identify performance issues and emerging risks
- Supporting incident investigation, troubleshooting and root cause analysis
- Identifying gaps in existing monitoring and helping engineering teams improve coverage
- Helping embed monitoring and observability into new and changed services
- Working with technical teams to improve service reliability and operational performance
What we're looking for
You could currently be working as an Observability Engineer, Monitoring Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer or Platform Engineer with strong monitoring experience.
Ideally, you'll bring experience in areas such as:
- Enterprise monitoring or observability platforms
- Infrastructure, network, cloud or application monitoring
- Metrics, logs and ideally distributed tracing
- Dashboards, alerting and event management
- Troubleshooting and root cause analysis
- Supporting production services in a complex IT environment
- Improving monitoring coverage and reducing alert noise
- Working collaboratively across Infrastructure, Cloud, Network, Application and Service Management teams
You don't necessarily need to have previously owned an organisation-wide observability strategy. We're particularly interested in strong engineers who understand monitoring and telemetry and want the opportunity to help create a broader observability capability.
In return, you will be rewarded with ongoing career development, an extensive benefits package and the opportunity to lead Observability across the business.
