Interim Senior Paralegal / Newly Qualified Solicitor - Data Privacy

6-Month Contract | Hybrid Working | Immediate Start Available

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior Paralegal or Newly Qualified Solicitor with data privacy expertise to join a well-regarded organisation on an interim basis. This role is ideally suited to someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, managing a broad range of data protection matters while partnering closely with stakeholders across the business.

Joining a supportive legal and compliance function, you will play a key role in helping the organisation meet its data protection obligations, manage risk, and respond to privacy-related requests and incidents.

The Role

As part of the wider legal and governance team, you will be responsible for advising on day-to-day data protection matters, handling subject access requests, supporting breach investigations, and working with stakeholders to ensure compliance with applicable data privacy legislation.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing end-to-end responses to employee and customer Subject Access Requests (SARs), ensuring statutory deadlines are met.
• Investigating and responding to data protection complaints.
• Providing practical advice to stakeholders on UK data protection legislation and best practice.
• Supporting the investigation, assessment and management of personal data breaches.
• Assisting with the development and implementation of data privacy policies and procedures.
• Liaising with internal stakeholders across HR, Operations, Compliance and wider business functions.
• Maintaining accurate records and documentation relating to privacy matters.
• Identifying potential compliance risks and recommending appropriate solutions.
• Supporting wider governance and compliance initiatives as required.

About You

We are interested in speaking with experienced Senior Paralegals or Newly Qualified Solicitors who possess strong technical data protection knowledge and can confidently manage a varied caseload.

Essential Requirements

• At least 2 years' experience handling Data Subject Access Requests, including both employee and customer SARs.
• Experience managing and responding to data protection complaints.
• Strong working knowledge of UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and PECR.
• Experience investigating and managing personal data breaches.
• Proven ability to provide clear and pragmatic data protection advice to stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively to statutory deadlines.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
