Prospero Teaching are currently recruiting for a dedicated and experienced BSL-Trained Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND school in Walton, Liverpool.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Teaching Assistant with British Sign Language (BSL) experience to support pupils with additional needs, particularly those who are deaf or have hearing impairments and communication difficulties.

The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting pupils' learning, communication and personal development, ensuring they can access education within a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment.

The Role:

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEND.

• Using British Sign Language (BSL) to facilitate effective communication between pupils, teachers and peers.

• Supporting pupils with hearing impairments and additional communication needs.

• Assisting teachers with delivering engaging and accessible learning activities.

• Adapting communication and learning approaches to meet individual pupil needs.

• Encouraging independence, confidence and social interaction.

• Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour throughout the school day.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant within a school or SEND setting.

• BSL training or a recognised British Sign Language qualification.

• Confidence using BSL to communicate with children and young people.

• Experience supporting pupils with hearing impairments or communication difficulties would be advantageous.

• A patient, caring and adaptable approach.

• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

• A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
