An established and highly regarded North West accountancy practice is looking to appoint an experienced Audit Manager or Senior Manager to its Liverpool office.

This is a newly created position within a growing firm that has an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality audit and advisory services to a diverse client base.

The firm has retained its independent, personable approach following its acquisition by a national accountancy group, combining the benefits of a well-established regional practice with the resources, investment and opportunities associated with a larger organisation.

The opportunity would suit an experienced Audit Manager or Senior Manager who enjoys taking ownership of client relationships, managing complex audit assignments and playing an active role in developing a successful audit team.

Audit Manager – The Role

Working closely with the Partners and senior management team, you will take responsibility for managing a portfolio of audit clients, overseeing assignments from planning through to completion and ensuring the delivery of a high-quality, commercially focused service.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Managing a varied portfolio of audit clients, including larger and more technically complex assignments.
• Taking responsibility for the full audit process, from initial planning and risk assessment through to completion and Partner review.
• Leading audit assignments, both at client premises and within the Liverpool office.
• Reviewing audit files and financial statements, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting and auditing standards.
• Acting as the principal point of contact for clients, building strong relationships and providing practical, commercially focused advice.
• Managing audit budgets, deadlines, resources and workflow to ensure assignments are delivered efficiently and profitably.
• Providing technical guidance and support to audit seniors and junior members of the team.
• Coaching, mentoring and developing staff, including reviewing performance and identifying training requirements.
• Working closely with the Partners to identify opportunities to provide additional services to existing clients.
• Contributing to the continued development of the audit department, including improvements to processes, systems and working practices.

Audit Manager – The Candidate

The firm is looking for an experienced audit professional who combines strong technical knowledge with excellent client management and leadership skills.

Ideally, you will have:

• ACA or ACCA qualification.
• Previous experience operating at Audit Manager or Senior Manager level within an accountancy practice.
• A strong technical audit background, ideally gained within a Top 10, mid-tier or established regional firm.
• Experience managing larger or more complex audit assignments.
• Excellent knowledge of UK auditing and accounting standards.
• The ability to manage multiple assignments, prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the confidence to develop relationships with clients, Partners and colleagues.
• A proactive, hands-on approach to managing and developing an audit team.
• A full driving licence and willingness to attend client premises when required.
