Business Development Manager - Healthcare & Assistive Technology

North of England | £50,000-£55,000 basic salary (flexible up to £60,000 for an exceptional candidate) | Uncapped quarterly commission | Annual performance bonus | Company car

Established expertise. Exciting innovation. Serious growth ambitions.

We're looking for a Business Development Manager who knows how to open doors, build relationships and turn opportunities into business.

An established, independent UK manufacturer and supplier of specialist technology solutions across healthcare, social care, disability services and independent living.

With decades of experience in Environmental Control Systems (ECS), Technology Enabled Care (TEC) and Assisted Living, the business has built a strong reputation for delivering practical, innovative solutions that support independence, safety and quality of life.

And they're entering an exciting new phase of growth.

With significant new technologies coming to market, including developments in proactive and preventative solutions, the business is expanding its opportunities across existing and emerging markets.

These innovations have the potential to help organisations identify risks earlier, support more timely interventions and rethink how technology can contribute to better outcomes.

Now they need someone with the commercial ambition to turn that potential into business.

The opportunity

This isn't a role for someone who wants to inherit a territory and wait for orders.

We're looking for someone who can grow it.

As Business Development Manager for the North of England, you'll take ownership of a significant geographical territory, developing new business opportunities while building and strengthening relationships with existing customers.

You'll work across a diverse customer base, including:

  • NHS organisations and healthcare providers
  • Local authorities, commissioners and procurement teams
  • Social care and supported living providers
  • Specialist disability and rehabilitation services
  • Housing organisations and technology-enabled care providers

You'll be introducing an established portfolio of specialist technology alongside exciting new solutions, helping customers understand how technology can address their challenges while delivering measurable benefits.

From initial conversations and product demonstrations through to complex procurement processes and long-term partnerships, you'll be responsible for turning opportunities into sustainable revenue.

And you won't be doing it alone. You'll have the support of experienced technical, engineering, customer service and commercial colleagues.

What you'll be doing

  • Winning new business: Identifying, developing and converting opportunities across healthcare, social care, disability services and related markets.
  • Growing your territory: Creating and delivering a regional business development plan, identifying priority accounts and new market opportunities.
  • Building influential relationships: Engaging with commissioners, senior decision-makers, clinicians, Occupational Therapists, procurement teams and service providers.
  • Selling solutions, not just products: Understanding customer challenges and working with technical specialists to develop appropriate, commercially viable solutions.
  • Developing existing accounts: Identifying opportunities to grow customer relationships, increase revenue and build long-term partnerships.
  • Owning your pipeline: Managing opportunities from initial engagement through to conversion, with accurate forecasting and clear accountability for revenue and margin targets.
  • Representing the business: Attending customer meetings, industry events, exhibitions and educational sessions to develop awareness and generate opportunities.

What we're looking for

First and foremost, we want a successful business developer.

Someone who can demonstrate a track record of generating new business, developing customer relationships and delivering commercial results.

You'll ideally bring:

  • Proven success in a field-based B2B business development role, with evidence of achieving or exceeding sales targets.
  • Experience selling products, technology or complex solutions into healthcare, social care, local authorities, the NHS or closely related sectors.
  • The confidence and credibility to engage multiple stakeholders, including senior decision-makers.
  • Strong commercial awareness, including pricing, margins, procurement processes and contract negotiations.
  • Experience developing a territory, managing a sales pipeline and converting opportunities into revenue.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and relationship-building skills.
  • A proactive, resilient and self-motivated approach, with the drive to create opportunities rather than wait for them.

Experience within Technology Enabled Care, assistive technology, healthcare technology, medical devices, nurse call or environmental controls would be advantageous.

But you don't need to know every product or technology from day one.

What matters most is your ability to understand customer needs, recognise commercial opportunities, build trust and win business.

Why join?

Because this is an opportunity to make your mark.

You'll be joining a well-established UK business with ambitious growth plans, a developing sales team and an exciting portfolio of established and emerging technologies.

The business combines the expertise and reputation of an established manufacturer with the flexibility and personal approach of an independent company.

You'll benefit from:

  • The autonomy to develop and grow your own territory.
  • An established product portfolio with exciting new innovations coming to market.
  • Opportunities to develop new customers, markets and strategic partnerships.
  • Direct access to senior leadership and the opportunity to influence commercial growth.
  • Experienced technical and operational teams to support your sales activity.
  • A collaborative, supportive culture where your contribution makes a visible difference.

The package

  • Basic salary: £50,000-£55,000, with flexibility up to £60,000 for an exceptional candidate.
  • Annual bonus: Up to 25% of basic salary, subject to agreed financial and non-financial objectives.
  • PLUS quarterly commission: Uncapped, performance-related sales incentive.
  • Company car and fuel card.
  • Healthcare and company pension.
  • Company credit card for business expenses.
  • 23 days' annual leave, plus three days at Christmas and bank holidays, increasing with service.

Territory: North of England, with limited activity in Scotland. Ideally based within easy reach of the M62 corridor. Regular travel and occasional overnight stays will be required.

Ready to take ownership of your next opportunity?

If you're an ambitious, commercially driven Business Development Manager who enjoys winning new business, developing relationships and bringing innovative solutions to market, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply today and discover what you could achieve.
