Inside IR35, Senior Business Analyst, Process and Data Specialist, Wealth Management

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Business Analyst to play a key role in a major Risk and Financial Crime transformation programme within a leading Wealth Management environment.

This is a highly visible, hands-on role requiring an individual who combines the stakeholder management and problem-solving capabilities of a senior Business Analyst with the technical investigation skills of a Data Analyst.

You will work across business, risk, compliance and technology teams to shape complex problems, challenge assumptions, define effective solutions and ensure successful delivery. Equally comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders, architects and data engineers, you'll be expected to dive into data, perform your own SQL analysis and translate insights into clear, actionable requirements. We are looking for someone who can operate confidently across both Process and data domains.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with business owners, SMEs and technology teams to define, challenge and prioritise requirements.
  • Facilitate workshops and stakeholder engagement sessions across Risk, Financial Crime, Compliance and Technology functions.
  • Translate business objectives, regulatory findings and remediation activities into clear business, data, technology and integration requirements.
  • Produce high-quality user stories, acceptance criteria and functional documentation.
  • Analyse business processes, system integrations and end-to-end data flows to identify gaps and improvement opportunities.
  • Perform hands-on data analysis using SQL to investigate data quality issues, reconciliations and business queries.
  • Conduct data profiling, mapping, lineage and source-to-target analysis.
  • Investigate issues across applications, interfaces, reference data and downstream reporting processes.
  • Collaborate with Architecture, Data Engineering and Technology teams to design pragmatic and scalable solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage existing platforms, integrations and data assets.
  • Support the delivery of regulatory, governance and control-related initiatives.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Senior Technical Business Analyst delivering complex technology and data transformation programmes.
  • Strong ability to shape ambiguous problems, challenge stakeholders and drive requirements definition from inception through delivery.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills with the confidence to influence senior business and technology leaders.
  • Recent hands-on SQL experience, with the ability to independently interrogate and analyse large datasets.
  • Strong experience in data analysis, reconciliation, profiling, mapping and data quality assessment.
  • Experience defining data, reporting and integration requirements.
  • Knowledge of APIs, interfaces and enterprise system integrations.
  • Strong Agile delivery experience, including user story creation and acceptance criteria definition.
  • Experience operating within Financial Services or another highly regulated environment.
  • Strong domain expertise in one or more of the following:
  • Financial Crime
  • Anti-Money Laundering (AML)
  • Transaction Monitoring
  • Sanctions Screening
  • Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC)
  • Enterprise Risk Management
  • Risk Appetite, Controls and KRIs

Desirable Experience

  • Experience with GRC platforms and risk management technologies.
  • Snowflake data platform knowledge.
  • Power BI and management information/reporting experience.
  • Understanding of data governance, data lineage and data management frameworks.
  • Regulatory remediation, audit or compliance transformation programme experience.
  • Wealth Management or Investment Management sector expertise.

What We're Looking For

The successful candidate will be intellectually curious, commercially aware and comfortable working in environments where problems are not always clearly defined. They will bring a combination of business analysis expertise, strong technical acumen and hands-on data investigation capability, enabling them to bridge the gap between business objectives and technology delivery.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-profile transformation programme and play a central role in delivering strategic risk and financial crime change initiatives.
