Role Description
To contribute to the growth and profitability of the company through providing legal advice and assistance to the Princes Group on both contentious and non-contentious matters.
Principal Responsibilities
- Communicate and collaborate with all parts of the Company both within the UK and internationally, engaging directly with stakeholders including suppliers, customers, insurers, and external legal counsel.
- Work with the internal Human Resources team to internalize legal advice on contracts, disputes, policies, and ensure compliance with employment legislation.
- Develop and implement plans and process improvements within the Legal Team and wider Departments to support company strategy, including identifying process improvements for growing workloads.
- Negotiate, review, draft, and advise on commercial contracts and terms and conditions with various parties including suppliers, customers, licensors, marketing agencies, and regulators, following company rules and timelines.
- Provide training in accordance with the Compliance Programme.
- Advise on legal issues across the Group, including supply issues or contractual disputes, to achieve commercial resolutions.
- Keep the Group Legal Counsel fully informed on matters being handled.
- Support Senior Management on project-based and strategic legal work.
Role Requirements
- Qualifying Law Degree or non-Legal Degree with a completed Graduate Diploma in Law.
- Completed the Legal Practice Course.
- Qualified Solicitor with over 3 years of post-qualification experience or equivalent.
- Experience managing employment law matters, including disputes and Employment Tribunals.
- Experience advising on Contract Law across multiple jurisdictions, with a successful track record in negotiations.
- Broad knowledge of commercial contracts and handling general legal queries, both contentious and non-contentious.
- Proven drafting and negotiation skills in commercial contracts.
- Experience dealing with disputes and litigation.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to provide innovative solutions to complex legal issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with all management levels and staff.
- Decisive, proactive, and able to work independently.
- Attention to detail, with strong planning and prioritization skills to meet tight deadlines.
- Strategic thinker, capable of setting and communicating direction.
- Team player with proactive engagement in business activities.
- Ability to work under pressure within tight timelines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Word.
- Decision-making under time constraints.
- Motivated for self-development and motivating others.
- Ability to influence and develop strong business relationships across functions.
- Must stay updated on relevant laws, especially contract and competition law.
