Breastfeeding Peer Support Group Facilitator

We are looking for enthusiastic and highlyorganised individuals to support our Knowsley Breastfeeding Peer SupportService.


This role will be pivotal in providingBreastfeeding Peer Support to Knowsley families and supporting with generalcommunity engagement within the service.


This role is to cover annual leave and staffsickness as and when the service requires.


Thispost will:


You will when the service requires, facilitateBreastfeeding Peer Support groups across Knowsley following full training. Provide service support including dealingwith telephone calls / messages, electronic communication, appointmentmanagement, data entering and database management, and other generaladministrative duties.

Job responsibilities

MAIN PURPOSE


Tofacilitate Breastfeeding Peer Support drop in groups at local childrenscentres across Knowsley.


Thispost will:


Facilitateweekly drop-in Breastfeeding Peer Support groups across Knowsley to supportannual leave and staff sickness when required.


Provide support for the service when required e.g.handling telephone calls and messages, electronic communication and updatingpatient records on our system.


Promote the service at local events.


SUMMARYOF RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES


Pre-arranged Breastfeeding Peer Support Groupsrunning weekly in different areas of Knowsley to make it accessible for allKnowsley families.


To use theinternal clinical IT system to manage our patient data.


Provide dayto day support for the service e.g. handling telephone calls/messages,electronic communication and updating patient recordsEscalatepatient issues and concerns to specialist teams when needed, using agreedmechanisms to document need, action and result, recognising skills boundaries.when needs exceed the skills and competencies.


Utilise a range of communication methodsincluding digital technologies, telephone, email, and text to ensurepatient-led support is proportionate to individual need.


Take lead to organise day to day tasks and resourcesmanagement.


Becompliant with all relevant policies, procedures, and guidelines, including theappropriate code(s) of conduct associated with this post; maintain awareness ofsafeguarding issues, report and acting on concerns in accordance with EveryoneHealth and Local Authority policies and procedures.


Takeresponsibility for own CPD and participate in Everyone Healths induction,training and continual professional development as required; recognise and workwithin own competence and professional code of conduct.


Prioritise,organise and manage own workload in a manner that maintains and promotes highquality.


Be anambassador for the Knowsley services, promoting the service to members of thepublic and other stakeholders/ partners, where appropriate.


Attendcommunity venues weekly and when events are being held.


Manage andcheck the NHS Mailbox and liaise with each relevant team member.

Excellentcommunication skills written, verbal and non-verbal, and listening skills.


To be ableto use Microsoft Office


Soundinterpersonal skills with proven ability to work effectively with all levels ofcolleague, staff representatives, managers, external agencies and serviceproviders.


Keepaccurate records to provide data and monitoring information.


Ability towrite down information in clear accurate English.

Person Specification
Experience

  • Experience of using data systems and Microsoft Office

  • Providing 1:1 support to service users

  • Raising public awareness and provision of consistent healthy lifestyle messaging, on issues relevant to the health of the community

  • Encouraging participation in activities

  • Managing own workload, to ensure tasks are completed on time and to a high standard

  • Using software systems to document, collate and evidence work

  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Knowledge and understanding of current GDPR regulations, the Patient Confidentiality and Data Protection Act

  • Insight and understanding regarding the varying local communities across Knowsley would be beneficial.


Qualifications

  • Full training to provide Breastfeeding Peer Support will be provided.

  • Required: Education to GCSE Standard at grades A-C for a minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent including Mathematics and English language or literature.

  • Highly motivated self-starter with resilience, determination and the ability to see jobs through to completion.

  • This post involves working with vulnerable adults and as such the post holder will be required to apply for a disclosure of criminal records at an enhanced level (DBS).
