We are working with a well-established and reputable law firm in Liverpool seeking a Probate Assistant to join their friendly and supportive Private Client team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in wills and probate, gaining hands-on experience in estate administration while working alongside experienced solicitors.
You'll be part of a collaborative environment where training, development, and progression are genuinely encouraged.
Key ResponsibilitiesYou will provide vital support to fee earners on a range of probate and estate administration matters, including:
- Assisting with probate applications and preparing documentation for submission to HMCTS
- Supporting the administration of estates, including collecting and distributing assets
- Liaising with clients, beneficiaries, HMRC, banks, and other institutions
- Drafting correspondence and legal documents under supervision
- Gathering financial information relating to estate assets and liabilities
- Assisting with Inheritance Tax (IHT) forms and supporting schedules
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records on the case management system
- Handling general administrative tasks to support the wider Private Client team
We are looking for someone who is organised, proactive, and keen to develop in Private Client law. Ideally, you will have:
- Previous experience in a legal support or administrative role (Private Client experience advantageous but not essential)
- A genuine interest in wills, probate, and estate administration
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and a professional, empathetic approach
- The ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Some exposure to probate, wills, or estate administration work
- Knowledge of IHT forms or LPAs
- A legal qualification (LLB, LPC, CILEX) or working towards one
- A supportive and welcoming team environment
