Senior QA Automation Engineer

We're partnered with a well-established insurance business with over 1,000 employees across the UK who are continuing to invest heavily in their technology and digital teams. As part of this growth, they're looking to hire a Senior QA Automation Engineer to join their collaborative engineering function based in Liverpool.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in shaping automation practices within a mature engineering environment. You'll work closely with Software Engineers, Product Managers and fellow QA professionals to ensure high-quality software is delivered across a range of web and mobile applications, while helping to drive best practice across the testing function.

The role

As a Senior QA Automation Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining scalable automation frameworks, improving testing processes, and embedding quality throughout the software development lifecycle. You'll be expected to champion automation, mentor other members of the QA team, and contribute to the ongoing evolution of testing standards and tooling.

Working within Agile delivery teams, you'll collaborate across engineering to ensure reliable, high-quality releases through robust automated testing and continuous integration. The role covers both web and mobile applications, giving you exposure to a broad range of technologies and projects.

What they're looking for
  • Strong commercial experience building and maintaining automation frameworks using Playwright
  • Experience designing and implementing API, web and mobile automation testing
  • Strong knowledge of Azure DevOps, including CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with mobile automation testing, ideally using one or more of Maestro, BrowserStack, Microsoft Intune or TestFlight
  • Experience working within Agile software development teams
  • Strong understanding of test strategy, automation best practices and software quality principles
  • Ability to mentor junior QA engineers and promote automation-first approaches
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
What's on offer
  • £60,000-£70,000 base salary
  • Hybrid working with 3 days per week in the Liverpool office
  • Generous pension contribution
  • 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Ongoing learning and professional development
  • The opportunity to work on large-scale digital transformation programmes within a stable, market-leading organisation

If you're passionate about automation and enjoy working in a collaborative engineering environment where quality is a core focus, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today with your latest CV and we'll be in touch to discuss the opportunity in more detail.
