Location: North Liverpool based Primary School

Hours: Full-Time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm

Contract: Fixed-Term (Full Academic Year)

Start Date: First week of September

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate and enthusiastic Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join our welcoming primary school in North Liverpool. This is a full-time, fixed-term position for the full academic year, based within our Special Educational Needs (SEN) Hub, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs.

The successful candidate will work closely with the SEN team, class teachers and external professionals to provide high-quality support that enables pupils to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide tailored support to pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including communication and interaction, cognition and learning, and social, emotional and mental health needs.
  • Deliver targeted interventions and learning activities under the direction of the class teacher and SENCO.
  • Adapt learning resources and teaching strategies to meet individual pupil needs.
  • Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies.
  • Assist with personal care where required, maintaining pupils' dignity and independence.
  • Promote inclusion, engagement and positive relationships within the SEN Hub and wider school community.
  • Observe, monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers and the SENCO.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents/carers and external agencies to support individual learning plans.
  • Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed at all times.
  • Contribute to creating a safe, nurturing and stimulating learning environment.
Essential Requirements
  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) – essential.
  • Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs within a primary school setting.
  • A patient, caring and adaptable approach.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Good literacy, numeracy and ICT skills.
  • A sound understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and families.
Desirable
  • Experience working within an SEN Hub or specialist provision.
  • Knowledge of autism, ADHD, speech and language needs and strategies to support pupils with additional needs.
  • Experience delivering intervention programmes and supporting individual education plans.

An enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references will be required prior to appointment. The successful candidate will be expected to uphold the school's safeguarding and child protection policies at all times.
