Deputy Team Manager – Safeguarding – Merseyside North West

Rate: £40 per hour Ltd
Hours: 35 hours per week
Contract: Minimum 6 months
Working Arrangement: 3 days per week in Liverpool, unless on duty week
We are seeking an experienced Deputy Team Manager – Safeguarding to join its children's social care service on an initial 6-month minimum contract, paying £40 per hour Ltd.
The Role
Working as part of a stable and established management structure, you will support the Team Manager in the effective management of a safeguarding social work team. You will play a key role in providing professional leadership, supporting social workers with complex cases and ensuring high standards of practice and safeguarding are maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Team Manager with the day-to-day management of the safeguarding team.
- Provide effective professional supervision, guidance and support to social workers.
- Support decision-making around complex safeguarding cases and risk.
- Ensure statutory duties, policies and procedures are followed.
- Monitor case progression, performance and outcomes for children and families.
- Provide constructive challenge and promote high-quality social work practice.
- Support the development and implementation of effective safeguarding plans.
- Assist with workload management, allocation and prioritisation.
- Contribute to service improvement and a strong culture of reflective practice.
- Deputise for the Team Manager when required.
About You
You will be an experienced children's social care professional with strong safeguarding knowledge and previous experience of supervising or supporting social workers. You should be confident in making professional decisions, managing risk and providing effective leadership within a busy statutory environment.
Excellent communication, organisation and partnership-working skills are essential, alongside a strong commitment to achieving positive outcomes for children and families.
