Engage Education are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and resilient Maths Teacher to join a specialist SEMH school in Liverpool from September 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate Maths Teacher who wants to make a genuine difference to the lives of young people who may have experienced barriers to education.

The successful candidate will join a supportive school team and deliver engaging, accessible Maths lessons tailored to the individual needs of pupils. The school is looking for someone who can build positive relationships, establish clear boundaries and inspire pupils to develop both academically and personally.

The Role

• Teach Maths across Key Stages 3 and/or 4.
• Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons.
• Adapt teaching to meet a range of individual learning and SEMH needs.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
• Create a calm, structured and inclusive learning environment.
• Monitor pupil progress and provide appropriate feedback.
• Work collaboratively with support staff and the wider school team.
• Support pupils in developing confidence, resilience and independence.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a Maths Teacher who is:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an experienced Maths Teacher.
• Passionate about supporting pupils who have additional behavioural and emotional needs.
• Patient, resilient and consistent in their approach.
• Confident managing challenging behaviour using positive strategies.
• Able to differentiate lessons effectively.
• A strong communicator who can build positive relationships.
• Committed to helping every pupil achieve their potential.

Experience working within an SEMH, PRU, alternative provision or specialist setting would be highly desirable, but we would also consider teachers from mainstream backgrounds who are keen to make the move into specialist education.
