CONTRACTS MANAGER – BUILD PROJECTS. DEVELOP PEOPLE. IMPROVE PERFORMANCE.

North West | Up to £70,000 + £5,000 Car Allowance

Some Contracts Manager positions ask you to follow a system.

This one gives you the opportunity to improve it.

An established North West main contractor is looking for a capable, energetic and commercially aware Contracts Manager to lead the delivery of projects valued between £2 million and £5 million.

Working across schools, offices, new-build apartments and housing developments, you will oversee multiple projects while helping to raise performance across the wider operational team.

This contractor has developed an excellent reputation through dependable delivery, quality workmanship, repeat business and long-term client relationships. The business combines traditional construction values with an ambition to keep developing how it operates.

That is where you come in.

YOUR ROLE

You will provide leadership across a portfolio of regional construction projects, working closely with Site Managers, commercial teams, clients, consultants and supply-chain partners.

Your core responsibility will always be straightforward: consistently deliver successful projects.

However, the business also wants someone who will look beyond the immediate programme. You will be encouraged to question how things are done, challenge the current status quo and introduce sensible improvements that strengthen delivery.

This requires someone with presence, sound judgement and genuine operational experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Managing multiple projects from pre-construction to final handover
  • Taking overall responsibility for programme, quality and operational performance
  • Leading, supporting and holding site teams accountable
  • Reviewing programmes and implementing recovery plans where required
  • Building productive relationships with clients and professional teams
  • Working closely with the commercial department to control costs and manage risk
  • Ensuring subcontractors and suppliers meet agreed standards
  • Identifying operational weaknesses and implementing practical improvements
  • Promoting a positive, accountable and safety-led working culture
  • Maintaining clear communication throughout every stage of delivery

ABOUT YOU

You will already have experience managing multiple projects for a main contractor, ideally across education, commercial, residential, new-build or refurbishment schemes.

You will also demonstrate:

  • Successful delivery of projects valued between £2 million and £5 million
  • Strong construction and contractual knowledge
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • A proactive and decisive management style
  • The ability to identify risk before it becomes a problem
  • Commercial awareness and sound operational judgement
  • The confidence to challenge established processes constructively
  • Energy, ambition and genuine “get up and go”
  • A full UK driving licence

This opportunity will suit someone who enjoys taking ownership, developing teams and leaving projects—and businesses—in a better position than they found them.

PACKAGE

  • Salary up to £70,000
  • £5,000 annual car allowance
  • Permanent position
  • North West-based projects
  • Diverse and interesting project portfolio
  • Genuine influence within the operational team

If you are ready to take ownership, challenge convention and deliver results, apply today for a confidential conversation.
