Interim Senior Legal Counsel – Liverpool (Hybrid) – Immediate Start

We are recruiting for an experienced Interim Senior Legal Counsel to support a leading Retail & Consumer client within their in-house legal team in Liverpool.

You will provide high-quality commercial and regulatory support, working closely with senior stakeholders across FS, Risk, Compliance, Product, Operations and Technology. The immediate priority is managing a high volume of commercial contracts, particularly IT, software, technology and outsourcing agreements, through a strong financial services regulatory lens.

The role remit includes:

• Advising on UK financial services and consumer credit law (Consumer Credit Act, FCA Handbook, Consumer Duty), payment services, data protection and wider FS regulation.
• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex commercial and FS agreements, with a focus on IT/software/outsourcing, data sharing and supplier contracts.
• Supporting the design and lifecycle of regulated products (credit accounts, BNPL, fixed-sum loans, payment solutions) and key regulatory change programmes.
• Partnering with Compliance and Risk on policy, governance and board/committee materials, and managing FCA/regulatory interactions.

This role will suit a senior FS lawyer with strong commercial/technology contracting experience, ideally based near Liverpool or committed to regular office presence.
