Senior / Principal Edge Solution Architect

Contract Opportunity.

I’m working with a client building a factory edge platform across a global manufacturing estate, and they need an architect to act as design authority for it.

Liverpool, hybrid.

6 months initial T&M, with potential extension

The role:

• Own the target architecture and evolution roadmap for the Edge Hosting service
• Define reusable Small, Standard, High Availability and AI/GPU edge reference configurations
• Assess platform options such as Azure Local and Dell Distributed Private Cloud against agreed requirements
• Define compute, storage, virtualisation, container, observability, backup and DR patterns
• Lead workload suitability assessment and migration architecture for legacy applications and new UNS/MES workloads
• Provide architecture governance, document decisions and manage exceptions

What they’re looking for:

• Deep enterprise solution architecture experience across hybrid infrastructure and distributed platforms
• Strong knowledge of virtualisation/HCI, Windows and Linux, Kubernetes, storage and resilient design
• Experience designing highly available, recoverable services for business-critical workloads
• Strong grasp of observability, automation/IaC, lifecycle management and cloud integration
• Track record producing reference architectures, HLDs and architecture decision records

Nice to have: manufacturing or industrial edge and IT/OT experience, Azure Local, Dell NativeEdge, VMware, Nutanix or GKE, GPU-enabled edge AI, zero-trust familiarity.
